Can someone tell me why??

Can someone tell me why BG schedules only one Saturday home game in 2014?? It makes it really hard to travel (for those of us why don't know any better) and go to the games when they are on Sundays or weeknights. I would also think that Saturdays would also entice more paying customers to attend.

.......or why the men are playing, basically about the same time as the women, 20 minutes away, so you can't go to both

Someone must be taking a page out of the old Rachel Phelps playbook.

Well since all our games in 2014 are MAC games, that would be a question for the MAC offices

The MAC Conference schedules the conference games. BG only schedules the non-conference games.
I can't believe that I have to actually come out here and explain this to you. C'mon, think!

Perhaps I should have phrased the question, "Why would the MAC schedule one Saturday home game for BG??" If there is a team that needs a little home court advantage, it is the Falcons. After this week, Akron could play a Saturday home game every week for the rest of the season, and BG has to play on Super Bowl Sunday??

I guess I was under the understanding that the league set up the schedule in terms of the order and each team had the flexibility to pick the weekend day and time. I thought the only time the league intervened was when there was a TV opportunity. Thanks for the clarification...

At this point I'm not sure it really matters. Sunday was actually one of the better crowds because they had the Jump Ropers there for halftime. I don't know what the announced attendance was but probably 300-400 of it was the kids and their family/friends to cheer them on at halftime. (and they are absolutely the BEST halftime act BG has ever had, I hope they keep bringing them back every year...VERY talented kids)
Sadly BG basketball has gotten so awful it doesn't matter who they play, when they play, what promotions they run, etc. The attendance is crap every game, and it will continue to be crap until they give a reason for people to show up. Start playing good, exciting basketball, and the people will be back. So long as every win still feels like a minor miracle we're not going to get more people there. I feel like I see the same 500 people there every single game.
That said, I do miss the old style of playing on Wednesdays and Saturdays. And playing on superbowl sunday is just annoying.

Don't really see the issue with playing on Super Bowl Sunday as long as the start time is 2pm at the latest (like the game was, plenty of time to get home for the Super Bowl). BG men's basketball program is in terrible shape, but if given the choice I rather watch the team play a live college basketball game over watching hour 57 of the Super Bowl pregame show

It's always been a pretty usual bunch at the game but now there are so few we should all wear name tags so we can call each other by name rather than just nod as we pass all the familiar faces.
I wish we could go back to the Wed/Sat rotation too.

My problem with playing on Superbowl Sunday is that it is literally one of a handful of days a year that you can guarantee nearly everybody on the planet has plans. I know it's not an "official holiday" like Christmas or Easter, but it's something that nearly everybody in this country watches. And MANY of those people go out of their way to host parties, go to parties, or even if watching at their home will make a large layout of snacks, etc.
At this point the only people going to games are the hardcore fanbase and having a game on Superbowl sunday doesn't matter. I went because I live 5 miles from the Stroh and I still had time to get home and make my spread before the game. But having a game on Superbowl Sunday really limits your potential attendance base. And you're limiting that potential base for NO advantage...the game could have been held on Saturday without issue.
Like I said, doesn't really matter because our fans aren't coming to the game if it were free BJ day at this point, but in the future I think it's really foolish to plan games on Superbowl Sunday.

I would attend free BJ day. Who would be giving them?
