Led the Owls to two wins and the quarterfinals of the CollegeInsider.com tournament in 2012, the school's first postseason appearance since the 2005 NIT.

Beat Texas A&M 65-58 on Dec. 22, 2011, in College Station, snapping the Aggies' 80-game home non-conference winning streak.

Beat Memphis, 67-52 on Feb. 19, 2011, for the first time in seven meetings in what would be Braun's signature conference win.

Six players left the program after the 2011-12 season, including Arsalan Kazemi and Omar Oraby, who along with former assistant coach Marco Morcos later alleged racial discrimination.

Owls went 12-49 in his final two seasons, including 3-29 in Conference USA play.

Rice lost 18 of its last 20, including the final eight games, this season.

The mistakes from history were never expected to repeat themselves SO SOON.

I will admit that his teams at EMU were some of the best I've seen in the MAC. I'll always remember EMU defeating Duke in the 1996 NCAA tourney (and Duke guard Bobby Collins crying on the bench). Braun's lack of continued success is sad and disappointing.

Remember is that if we're only offering $200K or less, then many will pass on BGSU and wait for other opportunities. Any up-and-coming Shaka Smart's will not be interviewing at BG. ($200K may sound like a lot to you personally, but it's dogshit in the D1 coaching world). Further, as coaching situations go, BGSU isn't a very good one. The new coach will start out with an apathetic student body, negligible interest from the community, and an institutional environment that de-emphasizes basketball. Of what fans the program has, die-hards like us, are as pissed and cynical as they could be. Further, the recent faculty salary budget issues should be a giant red flag. Oh, the 46-year streak will be a weight around the neck.

I think we can get the number close to 300k or higher. To paraphrase Rudy Reuttiger's dad, you can live a damn good life in this town for that amount. Plus, anyone worth their salt knows the real payday will come with the next job that they'll be positioned for here.

The new coach will inherit some talent, a top notch AD to work under and an almost brand new $36 million dollar arena. There are worse positions to be in. Regarding the faculty, their petty griping and turf protection is par for the course on most campuses these days.

No thanks. I've had enough of older re-treads. I'd rather take a chance on an up-and-coming assistant. Someone who has the fire and drive to want to make a name for himself, and will take the program along for the ride. It's no different than football, really. You just hope you can keep them for a few seasons and then find (or develop) another to take their place when they get hired away by a bigger and wealthier school.
