You're not kidding. Talk about an up and coming assistant. Only problem is I bet we would be facing BIG competition for a guy with his resume.

You want to be Wichita st-->go hire Wichita states top assistant.
You need to go the Juco route your first year because the last coach didn't recruit a full team-->go hire a successful Juco coach that can get you those guys tomorrow.
The only thing that seems like it might be missing is the connect with students and alums skill. Hire Anthony Stacy as an assistant and even if this guy doesn't have that Stacey will.
This seems like a money hire.

National Assistants (see Hurley, Bobby)
1. Chris Jans: My #1 choice. Perfect, perfect fit.
2. TJ Otzelberger, UW: Phenomenal recruiter who frequently hashtags #uptempo on Twitter. Sold.
3. Hubert Davis, UNC: I'll see your Bobby Hurley and raise you one.
4. Scott Spinelli, Maryland: Great recruiter, learned under a proven winner and ready to be a head coach.
5. Darren Savino, UC: Hate the grind it out style but love the recruiting ties and winning.
6. David Patrick, LSU: Ohio clogged up? Recruit international. Don't laugh, this guy can do it.
Assistants w/ MAC ties (see Murphy, Rob, Whitford, James and Montgomery, Mark)
1. Bacari Alexander, UM: The complete package.
2. Jeff Boals, OSU: Ditto the above.
3. Dusty May, LA Tech: Knows the MAC, recruits well and runs an up-tempo system.
4. Ryan Pedon, Illinois: Huge part of turning Toledo around. Knows the MAC like the back of his hand.
5. Kevin Kuwik, Dayton: Military connections might intrigue Kingston.
6. Lamont Paris, Wisconsin: Learned under Dambrot at Akron and now brings Ohio recruits to Wisconsin.
7. Cornell Mann, Iowa State: Has moved up the ladder. No better mentor than Fred Hoiberg.
8. Marty Richter, Florida Gulf Coast: Dunk City and Dakich connections.
9. Dustin Ford, Illinois: Worth a look. Relentless recruiter, Groce's right-hand man for years.
Former Head Coaches (see Davis, Keno)
1. Bruce Pearl: You never know. A nice place to rehabilitate your image. His top assistant at Tennessee was former Joplin right-hand man Tony Jones.
2. Dino Gaudio: Former Army coach whose Wake Forest tenure looks better and better.
Smaller School Head Coaches (see Cooper, John)
1. Dan Majerle, Grand Canyon: A star in the business. It would bring him back to the Midwest.
2. Tim Cluess, Iona: Runs the best offense in college basketball but just signed an extension.
3. Pat Skerry, Towson: Monster recruiter who could turn it around quick.
4. Jeff Neubauer, Eastern Kentucky: Built a winner in the OVC (sound familiar?) but it took him a while.
5. Dave Paulsen, Bucknell: Overachiever.
6. Barrett Peery, Indian Hills CC: Great pedigree and has proven his ability as a high level recruiter and floor coach. Someone will give him a shot and be pleased.
Former Head Coaches That Are Assistants (see Dambrot, Keith)
1. Bobby Lutz, NC State: Fiery with a winning pedigree. Looks hungry for another shot.
2. Ed Schilling, UCLA: He knows the terrain recruiting-wise and will bring Steve Alford's system.
Wild Cards (see Christian, Jim)
1. Geno Ford, Bradley: Jim Christian 2014: Former Kent coach returns humbled and hungry.
2. Jay Larranaga, NBA: Has the acumen but would need to hire a dynamite staff of recruiters (Stacey?)

Would Antonio Daniels be a good assistant coach?

It's tough to say. So much of it is putting in the grunt work by going to AAU tournaments over the summer and staying in contact with players that those used to the good life and/or don't need the money stay away. There are exceptions (Danny Manning, Rod Strickland, etc. ) but they are few.
His name resonates with us but the attention span of the current generation is about 5 minutes and 1997 might as well be 1897 to them. Sad but true.

After hiring a retread and bombing I can't support going down that path again. Not even for a guy who has won as many games as Bruce Pearl, orange coat and all.

I think a bigger school (Auburn) would grab him up anyway. Like Tressel though he has show clause hanging out him

I completely forgot about the show clause. As I recall the violation was rather minor (had recruits at his house for a cookout) but he lied to his superiors, to the NCAA, and had recruits lie about the violation. The coverup was worse than the crime and he lied and had others lie in order to protect his reputation. Not interested in him as our coach. Not at all.

Auburn hired Bruce Pearl. I don't know how the show clause impacts the hire, but this is the school that (allegedly) paid for Cam Newton's services, so I don't think they care much about show clauses. Heck, he might get a bonus for having a show clause attached to him.

Show cause, not clause. Sorry can't help it
They basically have to "show cause" why they are hiring a cheater.

From Auburn's perspective, the national media will move on from the story once the tournament starts. Once Pearl starts winning they'll start writing their redemption stories.
