New Coach....?
I'd like some news but would settle for rumor and speculation. The silence is boring.

He elected to go to New York over BG. The search continues.....Rollo83 wrote: I hear Phil Jackson is looking for a new gig...

If Kingston runs this search anything like the football search, he will keep it very quiet and when we start hearing serious rumors is when we're about to see an announcement of the new coach.

Re: New Coach....?
The Twitter feed bgsusports reports that Michael Huger (alum, assistant at Miami under Larranaga) is now following their account. It is unknown whether it's just to keep up on the search or because of his own interest in the position.
Everyone likes Huger for obvious reasons, but similar to the football search, we really need to branch out and consider people based on the merits and not let nostalgia unduly influence the process.
If it's indeed him than so be it. Roster management, recruiting ability, style of play, player development, motivational ability, fan engagement and community outreach need to be the factors we're judging people on, not whether they happened to have played here 20 years ago.

Look, you won't know jack s**t until they announce. Period. And anything you might hear in the meantime is random speculative bullshit. Go put your OCD heads somewhere else for a while and spare us all the torture. There's a lot of other stuff out there to keep you occupied during this time.

Some notes about Huger. I'd like someone with more experience and less of a defensive focus but I truthfully don't know much about him. What do others know about him on this discussion board that I like to use to discuss BG basketball?

So if I start following their twitter feed, I'm a coaching candidate?mscarn wrote:The Twitter feed bgsusports reports that Michael Huger (alum, assistant at Miami under Larranaga) is now following their account. Agreed. I love speculating, even if it's wrong. It's just fun to go through the scenarios and talk about the opinions of who would fit well with the program.Globetrotter wrote:Very testy today....did you have too much fun yesterday or not enough?BleedOrange wrote:A blah blah blah blah. Personally, I'd love it if Huger got an interview. He's had a lot of years to learn under a great coach. My wish list of people to interview also includes Ernst out of Findlay (that guy deserves a shot at D-1), Jeff Boals from Ohio State, Chris Jans from Wichita State, and LaVall Jordan of Michigan. I don't have any reason to think these guys are serious candidates, just people I think will be good head coaches.

Get Well soon....You know who would be a good coach for you....Dr J? Is he doing anything. Does he have a connection to BG in anyway?BleedOrange wrote:Globetrotter wrote:Very testy today....did you have too much fun yesterday or not enough?BleedOrange wrote:A blah blah blah blah. I don't have any idea what you know or don't know about basketball, but I can guarantee you from year 1 to year 7 the amount you would know would increase and you would learn from your mistakes and your last year wouldn't see you with a team of 11 dudes taped together doing the same thing your failed team from your 6 year did to fail.BleedOrange wrote:Screw it.
