William Duncan Frack ("Bill")
William Duncan Frack ("Bill") passed on May 28, 2014, after an extended illness.
Bill was born in Findlay, Ohio, on February 06, 1935, to his father, George H. Frack, who passed on April 13, 1997, and, his birth mother, Virginia Duncan Frack, who passed on in 1945. His second mother, Ruthanna Davis Frack, passed on December 12, 2002.
Bill resided at 210 West Lima Street, Findlay, Ohio, until he contracted his final illness.
Bill had no brothers, sisters, spouse nor children. He is survived by two first cousins. Although unrelated by blood, he always referred to Patrice M. Hassan and Rodney Kramp, his closest personal friends, and Patrice's pet dogs, Lucy and Ricky, as his adopted family members.
Bill attended primary, junior high and high schools in Findlay, Ohio.
Bill entered the military service and served in the Artillery Division of the U.S. Army from December 1954 to September 1956.
After military service, Bill attended Bowling Green State University and then graduated from Findlay College in 1963.
Bill briefly taught in the public school system in Hardin County, Ohio.
After leaving the teaching field, Bill became a daily fixture at the Hancock County Library where he became a voracious reader of investment related materials. His self-taught investment acumen launched his life-long career of investing in stocks and bonds to generate dividends and interest as a means to sustain his livelihood.
Bill was known as a kind, laid back and humble man who enjoyed helping others and pursuing the simple non-expensive pleasures of life. Bill was known for his very dry sense of humor and anonymously funding the care of others who were less fortunate. Bill had a tremendous memory and could regale his listeners with vivid descriptions of past historical events, local, state and national, and the various persons involved in making them memorable.
Bill was raised by parents with traditional conservative values regarding right and wrong who impressed upon Bill that conspicuous consumption of material items did not make the man but that adhering to solid values made the man that he should aspire to be.
Bill's typical uniform of the day could be his "SPAM" tee shirt, his faded old style madras shorts and his thread bare tennis shoes with holes in them. Only upon repeated urging and nagging by his parents and friends, would Bill replace his wardrobe with a new similarly stylish combo of items.
Bill's fondest memories began to form around age 13 when Bill's father and mother would take him to the old Men's gym at Bowling Green State University to watch the Falcons' men's basketball teams play their home games. Until he passed, he could still recount the magical moments of the great players of that era of BG Basketball. What began as a father/son bonding event evolved into a life-long interest and passion.
Many players and coaches at BGSU would come and go but one of the main constants in the bleachers at the home games from year to year was the attendance of Bill Frack. Each year Bill would patiently wait for the assembly of a new BG basketball team which might return the BG Basketball program to its national rankings in the former glory years.
In the Spring of 2011 upon the opening of the new Stroh Center, Bill was honored by BGSU for his life-long financial contributions and moral support to the BG Men's Basketball program by dedicating and naming the basketball floor as the "Bill Frack Court".
After he passed, Bill wanted to continue to help others less fortunate than he and to provide non-taxpayer funds to the BGSU Men's Basketball Program which would provide it the ability to attain a level of consistent achievement to rival or surpass its old glory days by competing with other high profile national basketball programs.
To accomplish these objectives, Bill instructed that all the residual assets in his estate and trust should be distributed to The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation to create and administer the William D. Frack Donor Advised Fund. In the ensuing years after his death, designated percentage shares of the required annual minimum distribution by the Foundation would be distributed to support the BGSU Division I Men's Basketball Program and the William D. Frack Field of Interest Fund, which, in turn, would approve grants to charitable organizations which would administer the funds to support the human needs of persons less fortunate and those who might be involuntary participants in troubled domestic living environments, and, other similar type programs selected by the Foundation.
Bill has passed but his legacy will live on for years and years to come through his generosity of giving of himself and his assets to support the activities he was most passionate about and concerned with. All who knew him will miss him but will be continuously inspired by his example of continued giving of his kindness and generosity to others.
At Bill's personal request there will be no visitation.
A verbal Celebration of Life will be conducted on Tuesday, June 10th, at 10:30 a.m. at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, Inc., at 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio.
A private interment of his cremains in the family plot at Maple Grove Cemetery will occur at a later date.
