BG at Drake

Our season starts in just over two weeks with a game at Drake who was picked to finish 9th in the Missouri Valley. I am very curious to see us play this year and I think this is a real good test right out of the gate for us to see how we play and what we've got. Jans is obviously familiar with Drake having come from MVC member Wichita State. I would love to see us have as much success as possible in the non-conference schedule but I'm most hopefully we use the first 10 non-conference games to get ready for the MAC and finally become a player again in the MAC race. It's been way too long since we've been a factor win the MAC. That could change this season.

I hope to see intensity on both ends of the court and be a scary opponent every night they play. The wins will come but the attitude, environment and energy is what I'm looking forward to this year. Let's get this thing started.

One thing I am excited about is simply having a full compliment of players on the roster. The last several years of having little talent and nearly zero depth off the bench is over! We have a ton of depth, the question now is, how will all our moving parts fit together. But we won't be limited to playing 6-7 players all season long out of necessity.

Can't wait to watch BG Basketball knowing we actually have a chance again. 7 years felt like 15.

We might not have a football game this Saturday but we do have a basketball game. Would be huge for this team to start the season off with a nice road win. GO BG!!!

For anyone interested, here's the box score from Drake's exhibition. Gary Ricks, expected to be their top player and was awarded an additional year, was the leading scorer with 24 points and drained 5-7 from three. Obviously someone we need to contain.
