Shooting

This team is shooting really well. Its a little scary, because that seems to be the kind of thing that can leave you quickly, but we are shooting the ball incredibly well. Against Buffalo, we shot 69% in the first, 61% in the second, and 65.4% for the game, and 45% (!) from beyond the three point line. There are many games when the whole team doesn't shoot that well.

Today, that shooting saved us, because we didn't seem to defend very well. It was interesting that we took their team on with their two big guys, and our big guys played about 1.5 minutes. Lefeld may have had the shortest stint in MAC history. Maybe that's why we got swamped on the boards.

Buffalo is a good team. They are fast, play tight D, and can shoot the ball. They made a lot of turnovers, but the way they run and pass, its not all that surprising. The main surprising part was 2 three-second calls...how often do you see that???

Quote from UB's coach on last night's shooting performance:
"It is probably unusual for a team to go on the road, outrebound their opponent by 13 rebounds, shoot over 50 percent and lose," said Buffalo coach Reggie Witherspoon. "But when you turn the ball over 23 times, you leave that possibility on the table.

We shot an astonishing 65.4 percent. I can't wait to what this team does against Marshall.

"There's more to this game than just shooting. . . there's fundamentals... like defense. . . "
