Awesome atmosphere at Buffalo tonight

Post by BGSU33 »

The game didn't even start until 10:00 PM, the game is a blowout, and the place is packed!!! They did a blackout for TV and the entire arena joined in. UB is making MAC basketball look good tonight. I can only hope we have half of that crowd and atmosphere tomorrow.
GO BG!!!

BG ended up with two-thirds of that crowd.

And about one-fifth of the atmosphere. Yes, I was there. Of course the crowd was helped by the fact it was played after the BG-UT women's game and a lot of Akron fans were there - including a very vocal group in section 101 that left the Stroh yelling/screaming "This is our house!" and laughing how they "own" BG. Which, no one can argue.
GO BG!!!

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Interesting. I was at the other end of the arena and couldn't tell they were there until the end of the game.

That's not to say that our crowd was into it. There are a lot of discussions on this board about fan involvement. But a little bit of support, instead of silence, when Akron made its run at the end of the half might have helped. Literally anything might have made the difference in a 1 point game. It also amazes me when our fans sit on their asses when a questionable call goes against the home team. They booed one call so loudly at North Carolina on Monday night that I had to turn my TV volume down.

I know there's a sentiment that fans don't have an affect on the game. But as you pointed out, they appeared to in Buffalo.

That probably sums it up for all of us. Hope we can finally solve them in March.
