I think they could play with any of the other groups. OU and Miami are tough but how do you beat Kent State's five? All from the same team.

Jim Penix, from Rossford, was the MAC Player of the Year late 60s then a fairly decent player int he ABA. He would be my sixth man.

Cornelius Cash averaged 15pts and 13 rebounds over his career and was the #24 pick in the NBA draft ( I looked all that up). I might take him over Stacey even though his number isn't retired...

I'm not ready to replace one of the Forwards but 1968's Walt Piatkowski (6'8") out of Toledo Woodward was a horse. Scored 27 against Marquette in the last BG NCAA tourney game ( a 1 point loss). Averaged over 20 PPG his Jr. and Sr. years. Good rebounder as well. Had two productive years in the ABA but lost minutes to a guy named Spencer Haywood. Son Eric played in the NBA. BTW the seasons leading up to the last NCAA team are similar to this year. Warren "Porky" Scholler had coached for 4 losing seasons prior (43-52) and was fired (actually reassigned as he was still on the faculty staff) for Bill Fitch who did a complete turnaround with the same cast of players. Fitch only stayed one year. Hopefully, Jans can pull a Fitch but stay a little longer.

Big Walt was a lot of fun to watch - very slick around the basket. When he would get it going the decibel level in Anderson would be deafening. I was a young kid when that was going on. It made me, as well as several others my age, fans of the Falcons. Some of those people I still around town and we stop and talk about the glory days.

Interesting to see some of the other teams. George Gervin didn't make Eastern Michigan's team. No Harvey Knuckles at Toledo and Melvin McLaughlin didn't make CMU's (Chips all time leading scorer). Huh?

How do you not have Melvin "Sugar" McLaughLin not on Central Michigans team? Or George Gervin on Eastern Michigans team?

Gervin didn't play in the MAC...he was there before they joined. Maybe that's why?

Thurmond the best player ever to play in the Mac and it's not real close

I know most of you never saw Jimmy Darrow play, but he scored 52 pts in s game TWICE and before there was a 3 pt. line...only about 5'10" or so, but a deadly shooter with either hand. Could take a smaller def. Player inside and hook shot him to pieces, then could go back outside with a deadly jumper. Went on to play for Cleveland Pipers in old AAU league ( not sure of its real name- owned by Steinbrenner). One heck of player prior to Nate and company.

Our own Chuck Share was the first pick in the entire NBA draft in 1950...but again, that was before BG was a MAC member.

BALL STATE UNIVERSITY How do you not include some of those Sweet 16 Ball St players form the late 80s early 90s? Chandler Thompson, Curtis Kidd, and Paris McCurdy come to mind. Eventual NCAA Champs UNLV had more trouble with them (69-67) than any other opponent during their run to the championship.
