Current staff still working hard recruiting future Falcons! Many student athletes choose schools based on the assistants on the staff. This announcement needs to happen soon. The right choice is right in front of us. No relocation package neended!

If these other defections are indeed true (Parker and Dickerson), we are going to be in serious trouble next year and are headed straight back to the basement in the MAC. We've already lost Holmes, Henderson and Clarke which was huge, and if Parker and Dickerson are gone, that means 5 of our 6 top scorers are outta here. Plus, we've lost a Juco who likely would have started next year, AND, we lost our head coach. It's going to be crippling. Even if we make the proper hire, I see this all setting us back a minimum two to three years. Even had Jans returned and all the returning players returned and all the signees came in, we were likely headed for a step back next season anyhow. Now all of this? It just goes to show how important it is to take advantage of the opportunities when they are available. Two months ago we had the best record in the MAC, looked like a lock for a top seed in the tournament and had a legitimate Coach and Player of the year candidate. It felt like BG basketball was finally back. But since then, things have gone from bad (late-season swoon) to worse (Jans fired, players leaving). No way any of us saw or expected this to happen and find ourselves here. Two months ago now feels like 5 years ago to me. Wow....

I was content with where BG basketball stood leaving Stroh after the Canisius game. And then, yikes. It does seem like with all the talent graduating that next year might have been more of a struggle anyway. And then the coach flaming out. And now this search that has gone on way too long. As a part of that, either no one cares enough to report out who BG is actually interested in to fill the job or they have the most leak-proof organization anyone could arrange. There were tweets about the VMI and Southeast Missouri searches and silence at BGSU.
I usually fall on the optimistic side and sympathize with people at the school and athletic department. But the last month has been a completefiasco. Football might be the most important sport there, but this basketball hire had better be a home run, to mix metaphors.

Maybe BG has to have alumnus Ron Tiller or his daughter approve the hire. Thus the delay.

Maybe they are making sure of the current staff's connections to the events that caused the demise of Jans. Once the staff is set we don't need any further disruptions with additional terminations or disciplinary actions - I really think this would set the program back a generation.

This is supposed to be a roster thread not a drama thread. Jabs righted the ship in a year. There isn't any reason another guy couldn't do the same. It's not easy but it's not rocket science either.

Spencer Parker would be a huge loss. Dickerson and Andrews I'm not that worried about. I want them for sure but I also want Jans as the coach. Whoever they hire will have their own connections and own assistants and will be able to bring in JUCOs to augment the roster.
I'm just really concerned with the timetable here and the silence on the coaching search. There hasn't been one bit of information out there and it's been 13 days since Jans was fired...

Nah…….they’re too busy plotting how to set up Babers. Takes a lot of work. Have to first figure out where he drinks, then have to make sure they have an employee of the bar in their back pocket (like an employee dating their son?), and then they have to make sure their daughter is available because her self-righteous attitude and approach is what pulls the whole thing together, and MOST IMPORTANT…………..they have to make sure those cell phones are charged, or you don’t capture the full effect of the GOTCHA moment. And without the video they don’t have two legs to stand on when Ron sends the threatening email to Kingston at 3am that morning.

So the coach gets drunk and sexually assaults a woman in a bar and it's the guy who informed the AD's fault...he's the bad guy now?
Didn't like some aspects of the Tillers attitudes...but they were 100% right to inform Kingston and he was 100% right to dump Jans

I agree Jans righted the ship in a year, but let's not kid ourselves, he had some decent talent (including one really good player) at his disposal last year. He certainly pushed them harder and got more out of those same players than Orr did, and also better used them in situations and even played them in positions at times that Orr didn't. But whoever inherits this year's team will not have anything close to what Jans had last season. Jans himself could be placed right back in here and he'd have a much different situation to work with over what he had last season. I was prepared for BG to be taking a step back next year regardless. But not this big of a step back with everything that has unraveled. This is not a one-year fix any longer.

And your 100% right Flip. They did have 100% right to inform Kingston and he did have 100% right to dump Jans. But the Tillers did not have 100% right to escalate and provoke the situation. This situation could of ended 100% better for everyone involved if the Tillers minded their own business and got a manager involved. Instead, they sent their college aged daughter over to a drunk Jans, which scolds him on his behavior and then informs him they have been secretly taping him. That escalated the situation and pissed Jans off. He had no right to say what he said, but a lot of us might had said the same thing if we were just informed that someone was secretly recording us and was going to use that recording against us. Everything I am hearing and reading about the incident has Jans minding his own business. He wasn't talking to or involving anyone from the Tillers party in his night. So there was no need to confront Jans the way they did. Had the Tillers walked away, they could of still sent an email to Kingston regarding Jans behavior and some help and rehabilitation could have been given to Jans. The man could have kept his job and became a better person and BG could have kept a good coach and the momentum of their program. I know its all done with, but I'm having a hard time stomaching this one and letting it go.

I don't think there is a person I know who would do this. Send their daughter over to say something and video tape it. Very strange stuff.

Jans may have "sexually harassed" her with the butt pat but he didn't "sexually assault" anyone as far as the story we all know too well.
