Nice touch around the rim. Great body control, he doesn’t look like he is playing much talent, Tallest guy on the court in almost every game. Looks like a solid rebounder and can finish when banged. Doesn’t look unathletic but doesn’t look explosive. Looks like he will be a great rebounder. Seems to have solid low pot moves but he isn’t playing guys who look strong or big. Not sure how that will translate vs a guy his size. I’m not sure he took a shot outside of 5 feet. Looks like he has good feet and is a decent defender. IHe must not have hops at all because he doesn’t dunk. Maybe a more athletic, more coordinated Josh Gomez?

Had pretty much the same thoughts. This may be a guy that ends up in the 6'8 230-240 range when a college strength coach gets a hold of him. It was odd to see a highlight film of a big guy in high school and see 0 dunks.

I agree. Combine that with his good body control and footwork and I was even more perplexed. It seems in Friday and Eiggins we have two pretty passive bigs.

Passive? Because he doesn't dunk? I'm not sure what you guys saw because he looked anything but passive on the tape I watched. I saw a big that can establish position down low and move to t he basket with some authority. Granted..that was against smaller guys, BUt I wouldn't call him passive.
One thing I did notice about his jumping is that he was able to go back up without gathering...he was first off the floor on a miss. Being able to jump through the roof is great, but I'll take a guy with less hops if he can get off the floor first.

Re Gomez...people are still picking on him? He gave us some quality back up minutes in key games down the stretch. I'm glad we have him and looking forward to seeing him play this fall. he's obviously put in the work.

One guy I'd like to see us go after is Southview's Ben Casanova. Not a real explosive guy...but he looks like the prototype smart, tough forward who can shoot that you need to win the MAC. He reminds me a bit of Nate Miller. Transferred in from Philly for his senior year...so maybe he got lost in the shuffle...

Watch all the tapes. He trots up and down the floor on offense and defense and while I agree he will mix it up there is a vast difference in his tenacity compared to a Rasheed Worrell. Watch Rasheeds video. It's incredible. I cant even tell if DeMajeo even likes playing basketball. In regards to Gomez. He played ok at the end of the year. He's still uncoordinated and Not. athletic. I completely agree with your comment about him and jumping quick. I never thought about it that way before but thats exactly it. He doesn't have to jump the highest because he gets up first.

I think Wiggins passes the eye test. I had a better first impression with him than Friday. He seems to have very good quickness and coordination for someone his size. I see a kid that attacks the basket. All things you can work with.

He did lead his team in scoring this year. He was at 13.2 ppg through first 19 games [projects to 16.5 ppg minutes adjusted avg to college game length]. No one else averaged double figures on the team, so maybe they didn't have a good distributer that could get Wiggins the ball consistently? Didn't seem like a high scoring team. Nothing available on his rebounding numbers from this year, but saw his junior year he was at 6 rpg. Could he be a Josh Almanson type who developed over his 4 years and averaged 17 ppg and 5 rpg his senior year? Was Almanson a big dunker?

I agree with previous comments that you get these kids into a strength and conditioning program and they will look like different kids. I think the base talent is there. I expect to see Friday and Wiggins to really benefit from being pushed hard at the D1 program level. I also think Worrell is going to look really good next year, based on his highlights and having gone through a RS year.

His footwork and touch around the basket look superb. Those kind of big guys don't grow on trees. And lets be honest, if he showed a 30 in. vertical with good post moves, he's probably not heading to BG.

The NLL has some D1 talent pass through...Vitto Brown from BG..and I think a few others. it'smore of a football conference, but many of those guys play hoops too, so the level of athleticism is pretty good.

Re Gomez...is he a perfect player? No, but he's a decent big off the bench. I will gladly spend a schollie on that player an not bitch about him at all.

OBC. This past year's team had 5 D1 recruits, including Carlton Bragg who is heading to Kansas. They may have been better than All-Ohio Red and maybe King James Shooting Stars, this year.
