There is a new postseason tournament this year called the Vegas 16. It has a new wrinkle than all the other new ones. It's played in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Mandelay Bay towards the end of March. This is the first year and there will only be 8 teams. The field was supposed to be 16 teams but they decided to go with 8 this year. Northern Illinois is one of them. I actually think this one could be fun for teams that make it. They get a break after the conference tournaments then they get to go to Vegas. IMO it's better than most of the games you get in the CIT and CBI. Plus a cool destination. I feel like, similar to all the bowl games, that there's getting to be too many postseason basketball tournaments now, but this one has me a little interested.

Here's a breakdown of the MAC in all five tournaments:

NCAA: Buffalo vs Miami (FL)

NIT: Akron at Ohio State

CBI: Albany at Ohio

CIT: UT-Martin at Central Michigan
CIT: Ball State at Tennessee State

Vegas 16: Northern Illinois vs UC-Santa Barbara

What a waste of money....the NCAA and NIT should be it....any other tournaments should have to pay for the teams expenses 100%. The CBI and CIT are a bunch of teams wasting money to win a fake tournament that nobody cares about. At least the Vegas one you can get done in 3 or 4 days, that would be okay to attend from a fans perspective.
