RIP Nate Thurmond....
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: RIP Nate Thurmond....
Sad day indeed. I never seen him play live. Nate still holds records for the Warriors 40 years after his retirement.
Re: RIP Nate Thurmond....
I'm very, very saddened to hear this news. One of the best ever. I never saw him play but did have a chance to meet him and hear him speak at the last regular season game at Anderson Arena. I also have his jersey framed in my rec room. May he rest in peace....
GO BG!!!
Re: RIP Nate Thurmond....
He will be greatly missed. I was honored to hear him speak at the final game at Anderson Arena. A truly great ambassador and representative of the university. All the best to his family at this time.

Probably the GOAT out of BGSU. He was a kid from Akron (Where have I heard that before?) and dominated. My mom and dad were at BG in 1960-1964 and went to all the games. Dad said the fire marshall looked the other way the night BG beat Loyola. lol.

Re: RIP Nate Thurmond....
here's a nice Blade article more related to BG (than some of the National sport news) about Nate....
Video interview with Tom Baker too.
Never knew Kevin Love gave up #42 out of respect to Nate.

What most of you may not know is that Freshmen weren't allowed to play varsity ball back then but Nate, Elijah, Wavey and Ira Harge HAD to be the best freshman team in country. Unfortunately, Wavey didn't finish school snd Harge transferred to N. Mex. St ( I think), where he became a 3rd team all- american, along with Nate 1st team, and Komives 2 nd team. What a group!
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

Nate of course was an NBA great...Komives had a nice NBA career and Harge had a good run in the ABA. That is indeed a lot of talent for one class...

When Anderson opened, in came Nate, Howard, and the rest of the crew - then the take down of Loyola. Unbelievable time for the university and the community!
