Firstly, thanks globe for letting me know. Had no idea we played again today.
As for the game we really struggled the last part of the first and to start the second. Came on string with some nice minutes from Ali and Worrell. Up 3 with about 3:30 left. Let's finish on the road

After being down by 13 in the 2nd half, Falcons go up by 5, then go cold and lose the game 78-72.
We need someone who can put the ball in the hoop. Denny is picking up where he left off last year.... Not good.
Oh, the good news is I got an Amazon Echo Dot and it's linked to Iheart and tunedin. WFRO, the flagship station, is on it so I can listen to the game without STATIC!

Couldn't close it out and let it get away. BG led with a couple minutes left then folded. This was one we had a real shot at winning, just couldn't finish. This team must learn how to start closing out and winning games like this or we're not going to move out of the basement of the MAC again.
GO BG!!!

We actually lost by 6, but who's counting. A loss is a loss.

Re: Game 2 SD State 4:15
Ali let himself get out of control down the stretch. He also missed a free throw that could have kept it a one possession game.
When sd missed 2 free throws and we had the ball down 3 we needed a bucket and just drove the lane and threw up a prayer.
Really a bummer to play the final 3 mins that way after the way they had played the previous 10-15 to get the lead.

Yeah, he does a good job penetrating the lane but, but that said, when he does and gets to the rim he is completely out of control and just throws up shots that have little to no chance of going in. He is not a good finisher whatsoever. He also struggles mightily with his outside shot. It's pretty much a layup or nothing on his shot. He has the ability to create space but really has little threat of scoring when he does.hammb wrote:Ali let himself get out of control down the stretch. I was an early adopter of the full sized Echo...I love Alexa to the point my wife thinks we have something going on.

Re: Game 2 SD State 4:15
Frustrating game to watch. I watched it on ESPN replay. Its all been said already.
The team is pretty lazy on D, reaching constantly and trying to come from behind for steals that never work. They are also dumb around the basket and get pointless fouls even when they have more than enough time for position. We have a 6 man rotation with Worrell off the bench that is really pretty good and I could see competing in the MAC. We need some guys to step up though for sure. We have to shoot better overall and we can't play that lineup we played at the half with 4 backups and Wiggins. That was terrible. I actually don't think Fox should play without being around the best athletes we have on the team. If Uju's injury is anything we might really be thin on the inside. I hate to beat a dead horse but we are missing a scholarship this year because we just didn't use it. ANY big man would have helped.
Individual player thoughts
1. Ish-Solid starting PG. Great to have him there. Can run the offense and get to the basket and play some D. Not a star but we could do far worse. Was out of control at the end and had a terrible play where he attacked the basket got double team and took it up anyway. he needs to clean those up.
2. Lillard-Wasn't he a total stud at the end of the year last year? I wouldn't have guessed it from this game. Seemed very ordinary. Wasn't bad but didn't stand out at all. I think this team needs a star and I hope and think it can be him.
3. Denny-It's a dead horse now. His shot is broke. It doesn't mean that he can't still contribute. He's a pesky defender and a great rebounder and solid with the flow of the offense. I don't know how you change his role in the offense but I think we can do it.
4. Alcegaire-It's a shame he has to play PF. He could be an all-MAC guy. If we just had another capable big we could start him as SF and start Worrell and Wiggins. He's our best player right now and other than lazy reaches on D he has a pretty solid all around game.
5. Wiggins-He was getting owned tonight on D. Couldn't do anything. I was tracking the over under and at 1 point he was -12. He is a solid starter but again would probably be much better with Worrell on the floor than not. I am very hopeful that one of Gadson or Koch can give us tons of minutes immediately.
BENCH
1. Worrell-He played great offensively until he got into a bit of foul trouble. He is very solid in the rotation.
2. Caldwell-He is going to be a nice one. He and Cummings will be a great rotation at PG for awhile with both playing together often I assume. He is very fast and under control for the most part already. Once he gets his shot selection in a better place I think he can be one of the MAC's best PGs.
3. Uju-I hope he is healthy. He is the perfect utility backup big to eat boards and minutes and not be a total liability.
4. Frye-Incomplete so far. I think he can be special based off his HS vids but hasn't done much yet. Late in the game they put him in over Caldwell. That says something, maybe that he's just taller.
5. Fox-Great story, smart guy who isn't in the athletic class of most around him. Very easy to root for.
6. Hulu-So. who hasn't played yet at all on a team that has just recruited 4 guys at G in the last 2 years. The writing on the wall does not look great for him. It actually might make some sense for him to go to spring football practice. He seems like a great guy and a great athlete I just don't know what his role with the team is. https://tape.preps.com/h/ne/bellevue/be ... /65579387/" target="_blank
7. Turner-Fr. Incomplete with injury
8. Gadsen-Fr. incomplete DNP
