And this coming from somebody who has watched a lot of years software BG struggling against zone. Our only hope is to start jacking 3s every possession and hope we shoot some ungodly percentage. All we are capable of doing if we try to pass is turnovers after turnovers

This leads into my main issue with Huger, and also with Orr when he was here. Huger( and Orr) preaches defense, defense, defense. And yes, defense is a huge part of the game, but you also need to be able to shoot and score the ball. You can be a great defensive team, but at some point you're going to need to be able to score. The name of the game is to outscore the opponent. I don't understand why Orr never addressed the offense of issues and Huger seems to almost follow in his footsteps in that regard.

We all saw what championship level coaching looked like. It had nearly none of these types of game. Unfortunately, it only lasted a year.

Not sure what game everyone was watching but what I saw was an EMU team that was 3 or more inches taller and 20 or more pounds heavier at no less that 3 positions (usually 4) with more bounce in their jump and quickness in their feet. I would suggest these attributes made it easier to score, to pass and to handle the ball along with better defense.

The key tonight was our Falcons needed to play a perfect game and did not come close to that standard.

The key moving forward is we need bigger, stronger, faster athletes that have basketball skills. I see promise but we need more size to say the least.

1. EMU preaches defense and they kicked butt with it tonight.
2. The offense under Orr same as the offense under Huger - that is ridiculous. Coach Huger is owed an apology.
3. Bad passes and bad hands on the offensive end killed any chance of running anything and that's not completely a coaching issue, players need to step up. It also relates to the athletes they had creating rushed opportunities.
4. EMU rotated to backside block and cut off so many opportunities. If we had the athletes that could do what they did I would be thrilled.

Yeah I'm not seeing any similarities between huger and Orr on offense at all. Orr's teams never averaged even 67 ppg and we're often content to just kill the shot clock every possession. We averaged 70 last year and are at 74 this year. Granted the change to 30 second shot click likely effects that some but not by 4+ ppg. Really struggled looking for points per 100 possession stats for college so cannot compare that...

Where I will agree is that huger doesn't seem to have an offensive system per se. We seem to rely on pushing tempo, and guys winning their individual matchups to score. Still it's far more aggressive than anything under Orr anf we get to the line a ton on most nights. Now whether we actually make them is another story.

Our issue tonight was largely emu forced. They have the perfect team for the zone they play. They're long and athletic. But all too often we didn't attack it. We didn't make quick passes, instead looking like we were thinking before making the nextpass. As a result we never really got their zone to move around.

When we did make passes it was like our guys all had butter on their fingers.

It was a bad sign from the very first possession when we got 3 in bounds plays because every pass we tried was tipped oob.

It really looked like our only plan to beat the zone tonight was to beat it down the floor. We did push tempo a lot, but it just led to quick misses and turn overseading to easy buckets on the other side. Hell they had almost as many points in the Paint the as we had total points.

Well, this game was F'ugly. Boys among men, I think everyone in the center had 7' wingspans and #10, who didn't start got his 19 points on easy baskets and 6-6 at the line.

It was frustrating to watch since they seemed to be moving a lot of North to South instead of East to West. Hey, the Stroh court runs E-W.

Fortunately, we don't go to Ypsi this year. Ish and 'Twon were very quiet.

100% agree. Where is the credit given to Eastern? They were awesome and that zone was awesome. It's hard to beat a team with 10 guys over 6-6 with 3 guys over 6-6. Especially when they are all athletic and they run a zone that well.
