BG vs CMU

Post by gmartin »

.... about to tip off. Can we keep the Chips under 90 points...... their last three games were 96, 98 and 101 points. If we keep them under 80 we have a shot.

BG now down 10. 29-19. Rayson & Keene have 22 of the 29.

We are only shooting 33% in the first half. 40% from the foul line. And we have missed seven layups.

Down 42-30 @ half. Keene and Rayson have equalled our point total.

And yet another game where I'm forced to point out what an absolutely HORRIBLE offensive player Zach Denny is.

As long as we keep letting him take 10-15 shots every game we will continue to suck. The fact that he's our leading scorer is the most damning evidence that he shoots way too damned much.

BG has defended CMU about as well as you can hope for, and have kept under 10 points for awhile, but can't get it closer than 4. Down 6 with 5:00 to go...be nice to see us pull one out.

oh, and we've made this run by putting Denny & Ali on the bench.

Caldwell scoring and Wiggins dominating the glass made it a game.

Unfortunately our free throw shooting and abysmal shooting from the field (especially 3) killed us.

If I never watch Denny shoot another 3 I would not cry one bit. I think Caldwell was getting a bit gassed as much as he was running, so I know they had to give him a blow, but key possession was when we brought Ali back in, and he made an awful pass to try and feed the post. Turnover. I think we were only down 4 at that point.

Kinda bummed to see Frye have another poor game after they put him in the starting lineup. Hopefully he's just pressing or something. I know the kid has some game, and we need to see it.

CMU covered by 1/2 pt. Whew for those who bet.

If we make our free throws we may have pulled this off. If Denny didn't go 4 for 13 like he always does.

At some point you have to play worrell and Wiggins together. Those 2to alcegaire and the rookies.

I agree...they could be really good. We just couldn't get over the hump but we didn't quit.

12 games left? I get not doing it because if one gets hurt you have no back up center. But at some point if you are going to lose anyway lets do it. Tournament time definitely.

I would love to play them 2 together at the same time but we don't have a backup C/F to replace them if they were to get injured, foul trouble or simple rest. Uju is the next tallest player at 6'7. If Maybelen was still on the roster than its possibly feasible but with no other big man on the team you can't afford to play both at the same time. Can you imagine Alcegaire being your am down low for an extended period of time if both Worrell or Wiggins get in foul trouble and need a break. The bigger concern is telling Denny not to shoot. Play Caldwell more. Have Ish get his head in the game. Find out where the Lillard of the MAC Tournament went.

Next year lineup of Frye, Caldwell, Lillard or Uju, and both Worrell and Wiggins looks good as long as we recruit another big man.

We have 2 big men signed already for next year. We actaully will have 5 next year instead of the 2 we have now. We won't know what to do with ourselves :). I am curious if Uju will get redshirted. He was listed as a guy who could play both forward spots but seemed more like a solid rebounding 4 to me when he played, that was a very small picture though. You don't often seem to see Jucos redshirted but he would seem to fit for this.
