BG vs Miami

Post by gmartin »

Big game today down in Oxford. With a BG win and a NIU loss BG would tie NIU for 8th seed. NIU would hold the tiebreaker but next week NIU plays Akron and WMU so it's still possible BG could get the 8th seed.

Miami is bad but BG still needs to come out and play a complete game today. I think Lillard will play well today. Need Caldwell to step up too.

Anyone going to the game? We plan on meeting up with Nicholas. Should be plenty of tickets available. Only 1,400 showed up last week for the Miami- Eastern game.

Eastern did beat NIU today so a BG win would tie NIU for the 8th seed, NIU owns tiebreaker. However a loss today would drop BG down to #11 seed.

BG WINS!!! 70-54

7-9 in conference, tied with NIU for 8/9 seed, lose the tiebreaker.

Lillard had great game off bench. If he starts producing would be huge. 16 pts. (8-8 ft) 9 rebounds. 2 assists. 2 steals. 1 block. And by the way, I called it for Lillard.

Listened to the 2nd half on the radio while in the car. Sounded like we were pretty sloppy for the first 10-12 mins of the half, and our shooting was pretty atrocious (albeit not quite as bad as theirs). But in crunch time down the stretch we dominated them the way you should dominate a horrendous team like Miami.

I'll take any road win in the MAC, and to win by 16 is always great. Nice to hear Lillard play so well. Having him return to the true scorer he was late last season would be huge for this team.

The most frustrating thing about this team is that on any given night Denny, Alcegaire, Lillard, Frye, or Caldwell could go for 15+ points and it wouldn't surprise me one bit. Yet I'm equally unsurprised when those guys fail to get to 6 points in a game. I'll give the freshmen slack for the inconsistency but from 2 seniors and a sophomore that showed so much promise? It's very frustrating.

Watch ESPN has me overly confident in my ability to watch games after the fact. I guess it's just stats for me and your eyes. A win is good though

Only 1,586 at Millett for the game.

It looked like a lot of BGSU fans were at the game.
The Miami Student section had to be all of three or four rows in one section. Quite sad to say the least.

Nice win..... the start of the second was slow for BG as noted by Hammb.
I don't think Miami ever really was going to challenge us during the game. Regardless of the score at any time.
I just can't imagine Miami keeping their coach beyond his current contract.

Today was Senior Day.... Miami had ONE ..... ONE..... senior.
And this is Coach Cooper's fifth year at Miami.

FWIW - Today was my third time in Millett.... once for registration my first year of grad school, once for commencement, and today.
Glad #3 involved a BGSU victory.

Well you are 1-0 @ Millett. Ever been to University Arena in Buffalo. If not you should make the drive so you can say you are 1-0 there as well.
