MAC Tournament Seedings

Post by gmartin »

Akron has clinched #1 seed for upcoming MAC Tournament. Miami secured #12. Currently BG sits at #9. If BG were to win out it should secure a #8 seed and host 1st round game. NIU is on losing streak and still must face WMU & Ball State.

BG is very likely to face NIU in the MAC Tournament, most likely on the road as the #9 seed.
GO BG!!!

NIU has 2 tough games against WMU and Ball State. I see them losing both. Even though Kent State is on a roll I see BG beating them at home. I don't think Bowling Green will win at Buffalo but I see BG finishing one game ahead of NIU.

According to some guy named Jeremy here are the 3-6 seeds all with 9-7 records.

Four teams at 9-7. H2H records are UB 3-2, WMU 2-2, KSU 2-2, BSU 2-3

Now those could change on Tuesday but as of today this would be the current scenarios.

First Round Byes:
1. Akron
2. Ohio
3. Buffalo
4. Western Michigan

At Campus Sites
5. Kent State vs 12. Miami
6. Ball State vs 11. Central Michian
7. Toledo vs 10. Eastern Michigan
8. Northern vs 9. Bowling Green

Now this has like a 0.0001% chance of happening however if WMU, Kent State, Buffalo and Ball State each lose their last 2 games because they don't play each other amongst themselves and it's possible but it each would lose their last 2 games they would all 4 finish at 9-9.
Add to the mix if Toledo beats Ball State, which is one of the two losses BSU must have and then Toledo beats EMU, Toledo would finish 9-9.
Finally if NIU wins both its remaining games, and if BG were to wins it's 2 games against Buffalo and Kent, BG would also finish 9-9.

You would have 7 teams at 9-9. Figure out that tie breaker!!

Well Akron has secured #1 Seed
Toledo is locked in at #7, nothing they do can change that.
Miami is #12.

5 teams are currently 10-7.

EMU, NIU and BG are each 7-10, BG with the 10 seed.

As of today BG would play Toledo. If BG were to lose to Buffalo and CMU wins BG would drop to 11 and play at Ball State. That wouldn't be so bad.

And if BG were to upset Buffalo, AND NIU and EMU lose, BG would be #8 seed hosting EMU.

Is there any tiebreaker situation that we don't lose? Such as a three way tie between us, EMU, and UT.

BG is toast. Highly unlikely to get a road win at Toledo, but even if so, Ohio has throttled BG in both matchups. A win over Toledo is possible, but unlikely, and there's no chance in hell for a win vs Ohio.
GO BG!!!

And then if we get by Ohio, more than likely it will be Buffalo!!!! If we make it that far the championship game match up may be easier.

According to WatchESPN.com, we play at 6:00 on ESPN3. The women also play at 6:00.

According to bgsufalcons.com, the men play at 8:00 and the women play at 5:30. So, what is correct?
