These have been a lot of fun. If you haven't attended one before, consider going to this one. Great opportunity to hear the coaches talk and to ask questions.
(I'm posting this in Football, both BB, and Hockey forums, btw)

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

If someone goes can you please ask why they are not using the last scholarship after the fiasco of not using it last year.

I think that's kind of lame to do and he has better things to do. You know what would be cool, and I bet he would do. Answer questions of people on this board.Flipper wrote:[email protected]

Lame? How so? I think he'd like to hear from tuned in fans who have a question about the hoops deal he runs....I don't think Dakich would have appreciated the question, but Huger seems a bit cooler about that kind of thing

Why is asking a stranger to pass on your question face-to-face ok, but directly reaching out to him with your question via email is "lame?"

It seems like a reasonable question provided you don't refer to last year as a fiasco. Labeling last year as a fiasco might be viewed as an attack yet the question should be expected.

Because it can come up in conversation and not be the main purpose of the discussion. If you are already talking to Huger about X please ask them Y. Y is not worth it's own discussion. Alone I wouldn't be surprised if he would be defensive about it. In a longer discussion you have built up the conversation and the capital in your relationship with him so it seems less like an attack.BGDrew wrote:Why is asking a stranger to pass on your question face-to-face ok, but directly reaching out to him with your question via email is "lame?"
I am certain that if I mismanaged the roster as poorly as it was done last year causing our best SF, a Sr, to have to play PF in his last year, and our best PF to see fewer minutes because he had to be available to back up the C because no one else on the team was over 6-6 I might get defensive when questioned about it. What I wouldnt do is triple down and do the same thing for the third year in a row. You can't do what you did last year, have the results you had and not learn from it. Makes me wonder if the Administration isn't telling him we only can give 12 scholarships due to funding. Which sounds absurd. But then again so is giving only 12 scholarships and playing 3 players over 6-5 on a D1 team. How do you call up football players to play for a week and then not fill out your roster?
Re: Last Coaches Caravan Stop is in Toledo!
I think this year is completely different. We'll need that extra scholarship since our only senior this upcoming year is Matt Fox, which will give us more flexibility on the recruiting trail. I don't get why we didn't have use all of our scholarships the past couple years, but this year we already have five players at least 6'7 along with having quality depth at every position which should let us avoid playing someone like Wes or Matt at the four.
I do agree the question is much more appropriate at the caravan when questions are expected and it's face to face. Tone is difficult in email and it could seem like an attack.

C'mon..it can't be that hard
"Coach Huger
As both a fan and alum of BGSU, I'm really looking forward to the upcoming basketball season. Last year certainly had its ups and downs, but I'm convinced that the experience our underclassmen gained will be invaluable as they mesh with what looks to be an incredible freshman class.
One of the challenges we faced last year was the injuries and departures that robbed us of our depth. We're carrying an extra scholarship forward again this year.
Are you holding that open for a walk on or did you feel that there wasn't a player out there worthy of the commitment. ..or perhaps you want too balance the class numbers out a bit and signing a true freshman next year will do that?
Would love to hear your views on scholarship management... As a comparative novice, any insight I can get on building a winning program would be welcomed.
Thanks in advance...and good luck this season, fuckface!!!
Sincerely
Your Pal Globe"
On second thought that last line could do with some editing

I think the last line is just fine -- "Your Pal Globe" is perfect, as long as your name is Globe.Flipper wrote:C'mon..it can't be that hard
