Tonight is the home opener, let's see how Turner follows up his epic season opener. Figured I'd start a thread, and also paste the link to the preview document they emailed out this morning, if others wanted to see it.

Looking forward to the game tonight. South Dakota might turn out to be the best team on our non-conference schedule, so it will be a real test. The MAC has been really good so far and this would be a big notch in our belt. Don't think we have any chance at all at an at-large bid, but the MAC is making a case for one at this really, really early point in the season. This would help out.

The game notes are also available on the BGSU Web Site too.

At large bid..... easy there. Let's take it one game at a time. BG hasn't made it to the tournament in 60 years. I will take a 2-0 start.

I thought this game was Wednesday. I am missing it for work. Shoot.

A look at the PAWS. I don't know what they actually are but their logo is a PAW.

They beat the Mayville State Comets in their opener, which sounds like a made up name in a Children's book. 87-59.

It will be interesting to see how we do. Looks like they have some shooters with 3 guys in that starting lineup above 40% from three last year in conference play. Mooney shot 200 threes last year. I wonder if Turner, who I think is our best wing defender too, is on him and if that hurts ourt scoring. We match up really well when it comes to size so hopefully we try to bang. I bet Plowden sees more minutes once again.

WHO DEY Think going to beat them Falcons?

Serious question, is South Dakota offered Bowling Green's spot in the MAC? Consecutive wins in basketball and the football game this year.

Better question, would we ever accept the invite?

BG drops its home opener. Some bright spots. This team will be fun to watch this year. A young team with no seniors. One year away.

We got completely screwed on that foul...clear steal there by Turner. 4 point swing with a minute left. Oh well, thought we looked OK against a team that had 22 wins last year. This team has potential!

Can we now please stop scheduling South Dakota? In EVERYTHING!

Huger is just paranoid of foul trouble. It cost them big time tonight. The result is way too much Matt Fox.

Solid effort. Dominated pretty well in the first 25 minutes. Couldn't hang with them down the stretch, but our shooting will come. Turner got screwed on that clear steal, but it may not have been enough either way.

Ultimately, I am encouraged that we hung the whole way with an NIT team from last year. Lots to improve on, and nowhere to go but up. Keep fighting, Falcons!

We need a Matt Mooney. I hated him by the end of the game. He was a total stud and wanted the ball in his hands. It might be Frye (If he stops taking ill advised shots and can get more separation with his dribble), it could be turner (if he has more consistency) , it could really be almost anyone in the top part of the rotation for us (Cummings-Lillard-Plowden-Koch). I have never seen a Good BG team without a Matt Mooney-(Stacey-McLeod-Daniels).

Thoughts
1-I would love to see what a lineup with Wiggins-Koch-Plowden looks like? I can't imagine many teams in the MAC with as many good bigs.
2-Koch can score. 2 games in we have a Freshman Guard putting up 33 points and a Freshman Forward putting up 15-14 in his second game ever.
3-We need to get better shots. SD is a veteran team used to winning who pressured our guards. Those guards shot 14-49. They are young but need to learn to take bad shots.
4-It wouldn't surprise me if Uju is a grad transfer after this year. I don't know where his minutes are going to come from. It's a shame he couldn't have played last year when we were in desperate need of him.
5-Wiggins was completely non impactful. He needs to be much more aggressive.
6-Lillard is going to be great off the bench. We could use another scorer and he will fit right in.
7-Cummings looks great as well. Awesome 3rd guard eventually. The headache for Huger might be who to go with at the point. Steady Caldwell or Cummings who might have a higher ceiling but a lower floor. It was great to see those two and Frye in all together.
8-Gadson feet looked like they worked. I was worried after the exhibition because he looked clunky in his movements. Not tonight. I have every bit of Confidence that he can take over as the starting Center when Wiggins leaves. 3 rebounds in 4 minutes
9-Attendance looked terrible. Super embarrassing.
10-Although you hate to have injuries Matiss may have been redshirted anyway. I am not sure where his minutes would have come from.
11-I think Koch is just what I hoped. Not an elite athlete but super smart, super productive player who just fills up the stat sheet.
12-If all goes as planned they are going to return their entire rotation.

1 Caldwell-Cummings
2 Frye-Lillard
3 Turner-Fox
4 Koch-Plowden-Uju
5 Wiggins-Gadson
