Development in 2017-2018

Post by Globetrotter »

Who has developed this year? I think there is an argument that just 2 guys have shown development.

Developed
1. Wiggins: Wiggins went from adequate but passive post to a double double machine willing to battle a bit.
2. Turner: Hard to really judge him but he is likely the MAC rookie of the year.

About the same
1. Lillard: He is solid but not consistent. Still waiting for him to put it all together. Could be the best player on the team.
2. Fox: Great shooter allergic to defense.

No Development
1. Cummings: He is the same player if not regression. Don't even see flashes of a player that scored 50 at times in HS. Who was he playing?
2. Koch: He is the same player he was week one. OK rebounder. Decent on offense, One of the worst defenders I have ever seen.
3. Frye: Shot selection atrocious. Some of the worst I have ever seen. He is like the guy at the gym who thinks he is the best player so he just throws up garbage every time down the court.
4. Plowden: He isn't playing. When he plays he is a bit all over the place but he has star potential. He needs to play over Koch if Koch can't play D.
5. Uju: Same guy. Nothing great but a big.
6. Fictional would be Junior who was recruited in Huger's first class.

Regressed
1. Caldwell went from a star for about 2 weeks in the Fall to a guy who gets 10-15 minutes a game. Very strange.

Incomplete
1. Gadsen: don't play him.
2. Matiss: Injured

NO DEVELOPMENT

Head Coach--Continues to sit every and all players with 2 fouls in the first half. This happens regardless of the score, situation, and need to win that game. Seemingly always having a bunch of timeouts left at the end of the game when BG has given up multiple runs. Team falls apart multiple times per MAC season. The result is 45-51.

Assistant Coaches--No awareness to situations. Why not sub offense for defense with Fox, considering he is the best 3 point shooter and the worst defender? Having Matt Fox guard the guy for Akron with 29 points in the final minute of a game. A must win game.

FAILURE
BGSU Athletic Department -- 2-10 Football, 2-13 in W Basketball, 7-10 M Basketball (in a year where perennial top teams had to rebuild) Being owned by Toledo in a way BGSU has never ever seen.
