Huger can't even manage a 30 point blowout
He dressed the manager for senior night. He couldn't even figure out how to get him into the game down 30, or get Fox a ovation. 6 years and $325,000 for that pathetic performance. Louis Orr 2.0 at double the price.

Re: Huger can't even manage a 30 point blowout
That game was exactly like the last 5-10. How do you lose a young team that just wants to play basketball?
Why do our guys always look so congested on offense and when we are on defense they are wide open?
We have a large number of players that appear to just throw the ball at the rim. Lillard, Koch seem to have zero touch.
Koch is the worst defender I have ever seen. I don't understand why we play him
Pullup jumper from caldwell. I remember this guy.
I've never seen a team switch worse on defense.
At some point don't you have to bench players who can't play help defense in college?
There is zero enthusiam on this team
We need a leader. A young team without a leader on the floor is problemmatic. For some reason I go back to a game early in the season when Frye hit the game winner and Huger called him his best player. I was a bit taken aback. Clearly he isn't in the top 2 now. It was wierd. I don't know how Wiggins or Turner would have taken that. Even Lillard.
9-2 start to begin the second half. Is Plowden hurt?
We have the offensive skill players. The offensive scheme is garbage. We don't seem to have much defense.
Ball reversal isn't a phrase for our offense.
We have 2 definite starters for next year. The other 3 spots should be up for grabs.
Our guys are always on the ground
I was right, Gadsen is athletic but not coordinated
How do you not get your senior a chance to be applauded walking off?
How do you not play your manager that you suited up?
Why don't we have a media group that will ask any of these questions?
Our ball movement is so sloowwwwwww.
We need an energy change. Have to try to start other players. I'd bench everyone but Wiggins and Turner

Re: Huger can't even manage a 30 point blowout
Before the media asks Huger (who is clearly in over his head) tough questions. How about asking the AD some tough questions? How do these guys keep getting a free pass on this? Toledo owns BG. That should be enough to ask them a tough question or two. But, BG revenue sports are HORRIBLE. And both football and basketball coaches have three years of contracts left. If anything else was run like this people would be forced to answer for it.
Re: Huger can't even manage a 30 point blowout
Not to bring up a sore point, but one must recall, M Huger was not our first choice.
SAme old Same old
Re: Huger can't even manage a 30 point blowout
Nobody made Huger a first choice, nobody including Mike Jinks, thought he was a D1 head coach except Chris Kingston. The same Chris Kingston who bailed the minute he saw the pile of crap both programs were headed toward.

There's the AZZ I know and love
The sad part is I agree 100% with everything said. Tow of the timeouts came with seconds left to the media timeouts and Huger had managed to nave zero timeouts left for the end of the game. One, IIRC correctly was at the 8:08 mark.
Not to mention any players, but if a certain Center spent more time running back into position, instead of looking at the coach on his way back, he might be there quicker. The other player I don't want to mention makes such poor decisions, I'm afraid to see him with the ball, especially at Kent State with 3.9 seconds to go.
I don't exactly know what Stacey's role is in this coaching regime, but I'm guessing he does more that we know. Or, maybe the kids are just tired.Either way, the Mens and Womens basketball seasons couldn't end quick enough.

This was the same thing said last year for both programs, and the same with this past football season. Just get it over, so the stink goes away. Don’t worry, Lourdes College, Lake Erie, Upstate USC will come calling next winter to give us all a false sense of reality for a month, and give the athletic department a reason to think Kingston and his crew didn’t just toss millions of dollars away before getting out.

Re: Huger can't even manage a 30 point blowout
I am just about fed up with BGSU sports. If it wasn't for the hockey team, this year would be an unmitigated disaster. The collapse of the men's and women's basketball teams is just about unprecedented. I got here in 1964 and have been thru a lot of bad seasons, but when you consider the collapse of the football team as well, there now just seems to be no hope. The mantra "Wait 'til next year" seems like a bad joke. Dozens of writers on this blog have called for change for months, years, and nothing ever happens. I will give it one more year, and if there is no major improvement, I'm done.
Mr. Athletic Director, Earn your pay--make changes or find a way to motivate these coaches and players. We won't tolerate this incompetence and failure much longer.

Re: Huger can't even manage a 30 point blowout
I think you better go “higher” than the AD. Men’s basketball is the ONLY sport that really has no excuse due to FUNDING, but practically every other sport at BG is under funded in comparison to other teams, not only in the MAC but on our schedules.
Until the President and Board of Trustees come up with a better way to fund the department, or a huge increase in private donations, the won/ loss records will not change substantially

Athletics are not a priority for the University...at least not to the extent they are with most of our peers. Unless you know of a way to alter that mindset...there really isn't much else to say
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Sadly this is pretty true. When I remove the orange & brown glasses, we are a mess in a lot of sports.guest44 wrote:Before the media asks Huger (who is clearly in over his head) tough questions. Does anyone listen to the post game interviews? Does Huger seem to realize this is a mess? Does he seem competent in those? I can't bring myself to listen to them during a 5 game losing streak.

I listen to them on my drive home from the home games. Don't listen to the road games.Globetrotter wrote:Does anyone listen to the post game interviews? Does Huger seem to realize this is a mess? Does he seem competent in those? I can't bring myself to listen to them during a 5 game losing streak.
The synopsis of them is typically: we didn't guard, we didn't play hard, etc. Very often he'll say something about getting the shots we wanted but didn't make them.
In the games we were pulling out it was a lot of the same but talking about how we were able to fight back into it when we started playing hard and guarding people...
