VCU, along with St John's are the preseason games we should be playing at home (Bill Frack Challenge) thus having a better chance of winning and generating local interest in the program.

This is another really tough match-up. Hoping for the best.

Globe didn't mention Vincent Williams, a freshman from Toledo St. John's, has averaged nine minutes a game in VCU's first two games. Vince's mom (Charlayne McClendon) played at BG back in the 90's.

This will be VCU's 120th straight sellout at home.

He was a stud. I just list guys with 10 minutes or more on average. That's a veteran team or I would suggest he would be a great guy to get should he xfer.

I was curious why VCU draws so well (aside from success under Shaka Smart) so I did a bit of digging. I had no idea they had 30,000 students! That, mixed with being in a pretty large city, and not building an arena that's way too big (see: Wright State, Ohio, Cleveland State), makes perfect sense. Kudos to them. 120 straight sellouts is incredible.

Tough matchup. VCU games are closer than they've looked because of late second half scores. I think Wiggins will have some trouble with Santos-Silva, but if guards can keep shooting it well, there's a chance to squeak one out. I don't expect a win, but it shouldn't be a blowout, either.

smh

VCU, along with St. John's are the preseason games that were pre-determined road games as part of the Legends Classic. St. John's, VCU, Temple, and Cal play at the Barclays Center next week while BG, Hampton, Detroit Mercy, and Loyola Maryland play in Detroit. They had no chance of being home games.

I watched the last 10 minutes and had to admit it was like watching the same old Falcons. They find a way to lose rather then gutting out a win. St. John's isn't any better than us, they were just playing at home and had a couple veterans that know how to close out games.

The difference between winning and losing these close games, and going 14-16 or 21-11 on the season, is separated by a razor thin margin. Coach Jans had us moving in the right direction a few years ago as a program, but we all know how that ended.

Need the to find the right coach to instill that kind of confidence in our players and program. Unfortunately, doesn't look like Huger is that guy.

JMO....

Again unable to watch the game (I'll get there on Thursday night!) but it sounds as though we're hanging tough on the road.

Currently down 19-17 and battling against a quality opponent on the road.

You wanna know why we bitch so much? Because I just watched Wiggins pick up 2 fouls going over the back on rebound attempts. Mattos comes in and picks up 2 fouls in like a minute one going over the back on a rebound. So Gadsen comes in and goes over the back on a rebound.

Who the eff is coaching these guys?

I see that pretty much everyone on our team is in foul trouble. Turner has his 3rd just over 12 minutes into the game.

Not good.

Playing horribly, imo. But of course I'm too harsh and as of as they all have fun they'll get their juice boxes

This team is absolute garbage. They don't have a clue how to play basketball and they're all upperclassmen. It's inexcusable. I hope whoever ponied up the money to get rid of jinks has some cash left.

Frye cans a miracle 3 to pull within 14 going into the half.
