Wiggins

Post by AyZiggy97 »

There are people on this board who like to take shots at Demajeo Wiggins. Why that is, I'll never understand. The latest NCAA rankings for rebounds per game are pretty impressive.

If you don't understand than you don't watch him play and you only look at stats.

The flaw in that theory is that I watch BG and look at stats.

So you’ve never been frustrated by his play?

Frustrated by him not reaching his ceiling, yet? Sure, but the guy's name is going to be all over the record books. That comes from a respectable level of contribution and consistency. Definitely appreciative of what he's done here.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

100%. He seems so close to being a stud, and it's passivity that keeps him from getting there. He has been much better. I think he just needs to realize he can dominate.

My biggest issue with Wiggins, through no fault of his own, is that if your best player is a post up 5 in this era of hoops it makes for a crappy team.

As such we try to run our offense through the post as if we're the Ewing Knicks. And as good as Wiggins is, he's not nearly good enough to win games that way. I'm not sure ANY post up 5 is good enough to win games that way in this era.

So yeah I get frustrated when we don't win because we are trying to play basketball that's at least 20 years out of date. I often times take that out on Wiggins even though it's not really his fault. He's a good player, just severely limited for today's game.

I seem to remember Curt Miller once saying, "we'll trade 3's for 2's all day long".
