Wright

Post by Germainfitch1 »

I know Wright is listed as a junior but hasnt he played just one year. Does he get that freshman year back if he graduates on time?

I thought he was a redshirt sophomore/junior standing. ESPN.com lists him as a sophomore, which makes sense since they don't put redshirt years on their site.

I think I see where you are confused. BGSUFalcons.com list him as a junior on his biopage, but if you look at the 2003-2004 Prospectus (PDF file on the right of the webpage) it lists this:

2002-03 Redshirts
1 Germain Fitch* F 6-4 220 So. recovering from knee surgery... averaged 6.5 ppg., in two games
2 Josh Almanson** F 6-8 243 Jr. recovering from ankle surgery... averaged 6.2 points in six games
32 Steven Wright G 6-3 170 So. Dayton Area MVP in 2002 who averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds as a prep

So yeah, he already has been redshirted.

As a partial qualifier Steve is technically a Junior. I think Germainefitch1 has it right in that he can get that year of eligibility back if he graduates on time. As it stands now he is a Junior and will be a senior next season.

I haven't heard anything about his progress towards a degree.

It is imperative that he earns that degree because we lose 3 of our top 4 scorers this year. He will take over as our top scorer next year and getting him back for a year after that could be huge.

Our last schollie??

Have we landed our last commit for next year yet? I'm wondering if we're going after another 2 guard, cuz if Wright is gone after this year , we are screwed. :ugh:

Wright won't be gone after this year unless he opts out for the NBA draft or pulls a Lewis and transfer. He is only a Junior at worst. :duh:

Regardless I think we are still in desperate need of a guard. We only have 3 true guards on the roster, and one of those guys couldn't guard a chair.
