Coach Michael Huger has been mentioned as a candidate linked to the George Washington head coaching job. I don't know if he would leave his Alma Mater for what appears to be a rebuilding project, but they have been to the tournament 4 times in the last 2 decades and he was an assistant coach at George Mason before (and that's about a half hour drive away from GWU), so if he likes the D.C. area, that's a potential draw for him.

At this point, it's just a rumor. I could see this being false info being fed to the media as a negotiating tactic for a potential Huger extension, but that's really just speculation on my part. It also could just be someone looking for clicks with a headline, we don't really know. But I guess it will be interesting to see how it plays out, if at all.

I understand your thought, but I really hope he's here for next year with the returning cast of players he has. They love him, and if he has a great season next year and goes elsewhere, this looks like a really great job to candidates.

I'd say your instincts are likely correct. This is posturing to get him a raise and an extension. Neither of which is warranted at this point. At the end of the day, he didn't win anything...no league title and no tournament bid (NCAA). He also didn't beat his rival; and his overall mark in this program is pretty much mediocre.

IF he comes back next year and has the team winning the games they should win, plus pull off several upsets, and he breaks that (by then) 52-year NCAA drought...we can talk about a raise and an extension.

His contract is up after next year, right? Personally, I'd be fine with a two-year extension right now. This is a great point and exactly where I am. This season had tons of good points and some bad. In interviews he seems to know what ails the team. I am excited to see if that can be fixed with some new bodies and some seniors leaving who may have not been great for the energy part on the floor. After next year we could be pushing a soft reset with Sierra, Laster, Frye and maybe even Turner over. While I think we have a ton of talent in Fields and Plowden and can still win games it will certainly be a change.

I'd be okay with an extension right now. If he has two years left, I have no problem tacking on one more year right now. I'm not as knowledgeable about basketball as many of the people here, but he got us within one game of the NCAA tournament for the first time in 17 years. More of that, please.

Atlantic 10. Mostly private, non-football (or at least non-scholarship football) schools. All basketball centric athletic programs.

Cost of living in Washington DC area is a “bit” higher than Tontogany, Ohio. Don’t forget, Tonya is from the Cleveland area if I remember correctly.

I don't see Huger leaving on his own terms until he gets BG to the tournament. That would be the proudest moment of his career and he always talks about how badly Bill Frack wanted that
