BGSU is playing for a championship in the Virgin Islands tonight.

We'll take on Nevada (4-3) in the Paradise Jam title game tonight at 8:00pm.

This is a program with a lot of recent success. They've won 25+ games each of the last 4 seasons, including 29 in back to back years. They're coached by Steve Alford, and they are actually ranked lower than us in the Kenpom rankings (105 vs. BG's 97). If Turner plays (big if, I don't know the details of his injury) I think we have a shot. Otherwise, we'll need other guys to step up and contribute in a big way.

This year, their losses are Utah, USC, and Davidson. Their wins are Loyola Marymount, Texas-Arlington, Fordham, and Valpo.

Eric Musselman really built them into a pretty significant power in the Mountain West, but he left for Arkansas in the offseason and they lost basically the entire team to either graduation or transfer. At first glance they only have 10 scholarship players, and two have to sit out because of transfer rules, so they will be lacking in depth, which hurts in tourneys like these. I think Alford will keep them as a winning team, but if there is a year for BG to beat them, this is the one. I'll be tuning in to Todd Walker's call tonight. Hope BG can bring home a championship!

BG opens as a 2-point favorite but I'm guessing Vegas doesn't know Turner is injured. I'm guessing Diggs may get the start. He's shown the ability to come in an play and that he can score. Nevada is a team loaded with transfers and has had a ton of recent success. If memory serves me right I think they were in the Sweet 16 a couple years ago and I think Steve Alford is their coach now. The Mountain West has some very good teams and Nevada is one of them. Getting a win tonight and claiming this tournament would be huge. GO BG!!!
