Tickets in a Pandemic?

So I still haven't renewed my tickets. I had a discussion with a ticket rep. She laid out the plan as follows:

You won't be guaranteed your usual seats, but should be in the same vicinity.
Seating will be spread out for social distancing.
Mask policy not yet definitive, but trending towards required for all attendees.
No deadline for renewals this year.
No single game tickets will be sold, so attendance will only be season ticket holders.
If something happens to stop fans from attending option will be given to turn ticket into a donation, be applied towards next year, or take a refund.

I'm still not certain what I'm doing. Just curious if the rest of our season ticket holders have made their decisions? I mean it's not like the cash would break me, and it sounds as though they will refund us if the games aren't played (or fans not allowed), but I'm not yet certain I'm comfortable attending games if they do get played with fans. My wife is a cancer survivor and while we both go to work every day (with our masks, etc), neither of us are really running out to eat indoors, go to movies, etc.

I guess I'm torn because the obvious answer, given our other habits, should be to sit this one out and go next year. But dammit, I haven't missed many games over the decades, and I hate to not be there in a year where we should be among the top teams in the league.
Just sucks, was really hoping we'd be past these worries, but things are still not really trending where I'd like to see them. Anybody else out there still on the fence? Has everybody just renewed or bowed out? With no deadline, I guess we still have time, but heck we don't even really know when (if?) the season will be starting yet...

I haven't renewed mine. I liked where my tickets were, and I was planning on buying a third ticket for our son (he's only 7 months old, but I figured if I get it now then that means we can bring a guest and the seat will be his when he's old enough). I don't think I'm renewing because we won't be going. Like you, we're not rushing out to do things either. It just doesn't make sense to me. I would essentially be buying the tickets out of good will. We aren't strapped for cash either, but you just never know what's going to happen right now.

I waited to see what the situation might look like and did renew my Anderson Club tickets last week. I also added two more tickets to my account for two friends I often invite to games. They love BG basketball and quite frankly are looking for something to do Jan-Mar that is fun and normal. The athletic department gave them 2 seats in the row directly behind ours. Everyone has to decide what’s best to do regarding interacting indoors with others. My wife and I have followed all Ohio protocols over the past 7 months but have not allowed Covid to interfere with our social lives. However, we are healthy with no underlying health concerns. So we certainly empathize with those who are not as fortunate. I also renewed my football tickets which now will be applied to the 2021 season. I want to support the athletic department as much as I can because we have a great deal at BG for live sporting events. There can always be improvements but for what we pay compared to other conferences it’s a good deal in my humble opinion.

I renewed my tickets but were young and don't have any underlying conditions. Also don't come into regular contact with high risk individuals.

I really appreciate the flexibility the ticket office is offering with timing and refunds. Even though I'll miss my normal seat it won't change my mind for me going. Hopefully we'll be able to attend but if not I'll see if I can carry one paid ticket over to next year and the other ticket I'll donate the money to the falcon club for basketball

As someone who has multiple risk factors (lung cancer survivor, diabetic, asthma) I am very careful about what risks I choose to take and how I take them. I feel it's my responsibility more than anyone else to take the steps to protect myself, and with today's technology and the services available, I can easily do this.

Now if I were you, Hammb, I'd definitely want my wife to stay home. If you are otherwise healthy, your risk is probably not as great, especially with distancing and masks (I am pretty sure masks will be required). I honestly don't think her risk is really high, given the way they'll do the seating, but probably better to err on the side of caution.

Just my 2 cents.

That's where I'm leaning as well. Her cancer was Thyroid while she was at BG, 15 years ago. Certainly not lung issues like you've had to deal with. We agree that her risk of extra complications is low(ish), but at this point is it worth it. The best part of the games is the excitement of the larger crowds, which won't be there. The games are all available through streaming on ESPN+ nowadays. And we don't even know how many home games we're actually going to GET this year.

From talking with the ticket office it really sounds as though they're taking every precaution they can and I'd feel as comfortable there as I would anywhere. But at the same time, every single thing we do adds SOME level of risk, and is watching a live basketball game truly worth it?

But damn, if I sit this one out I can say with utmost certainty I will miss more home games this year (assuming they play out the schedule) than I've missed in the last 20 years combined. :(

Aside from the exposure risks to my family, our 7-month old son isn't going to enjoy the games when they go late into the night. His bedtime is 7:30/8:00 right now, and any weeknight game usually starts at 7:00. Weekend games are scheduled all over the place it seems. This would be the year that, sans a pandemic, I would have gotten the tickets so I knew I had them and gone to the games we could make and give the tickets to family for the games we couldn't make. With a pandemic, where job prospects aren't 100%, and where my wife and I are both considered higher risk and the risks are unknown for such a young child, I'm afraid I won't be buying tickets this year. I loved my seats last year; I just hope those seats are once again available next year. 2021-2022 season, where our son will be old enough to sit in a chair on his own and root for the Falcons, will be exactly what it is all about.

I get it. Given the pandemic, especially I get it.

I will say if you ever want tips on taking the little one to the games hit me up. Ours was born in August, and has been with us as a season ticket holder ever since. Obviously he didn't get anything out of the games as a 3-4 month old, but getting him used to the arena has paid off. I haven't had the heart to tell him that we won't be going this year :( (he's probably still not even over Dylan Frye graduating)
