Following the awesome win at Buffalo on Friday night, our Falcons (10-3, 6-1 MAC) will return home to the Stroh Center to take on the Akron Zips (5-3, 3-2). The game will be played at 7:00pm on Tuesday, January 19, and it is slated to be broadcast on ESPN3/+.
Akron enters this game coming off a 95-94 win over Toledo in OT - they were down 7 midway through OT and still found a way to knock UT from the unbeaten in the MAC, so this is clearly a relentless, tough team to play against. Loren Christian-Jackson is one of the best players in the league, and he just dropped 34 in Saturday’s win, so we’ll have to play really well to have a chance in this one.
I’m excited about it. This is a massive game, and it’s going to take our best shot to get a W on Tuesday night.
Justin Turner is on #ScoringListWatch in this game, sitting just 28 points back from passing Keith McLeod for 2nd place all-time. Something to watch - a big game from him will be a key to victory for us.
Go Falcons - Beat Akron!

Trey Diggs has had a couple off games. We need him to start making more shots.

Akron helped BG out by knocking off the rockettes, but now the Falcons need to find a way to get a huge win Tuesday -- at home. Given how UT is playing, BG needs to avoid any more clunkers like the BSU game. We have no idea if there will be a MAC tourney, so winning the regular season is even more important.

Our % have been coming down all season. Driven mostly by Trey and Kaden coming down to earth.
How long has it been since a team had to gear their defense to stop the 3 against us?
Defenses are playing us for the 3 now - Trey and Matheney especially.
Matheney cannot score inside to save his life- he gets blocked way too much. But Diggs has shown some ability to get and hit a turn around J in the paint. He needs more of that - more taking guys off the dribble, to open his 3 point game up again.
Both of those guys used to pop free off of a couple screens for an open 3. That almost never happens now that we are playing people who have seen tape of who we are now.

I'll take the blame for that one. After quietly watching him rip threes for the past year and a half I decided to give him a shout out on here. He's gone cold ever since.

Akron has won 29 of the last 33 games against BG. No one has owned us like that in the MAC. Just beat these guys....

Just a few minutes away from tip. Falcons will be wearing their black uniforms for tonight's Unity Game.
Big one tonight. Here's hoping we show up big and play well against a really solid opponent.

Under-16, Akron leads 9-3.
Slow start shooting the ball. I think Swingle might already have 2 fouls. Blah start - need to lock in here.

Why does our coach have a love affair with Swingle? How does he even see the floor?

Any thoughts to having Swingle come off the bench? I know he’s a body but he may be more effective as a non-starter. He’s getting beat on boards and isn’t much of a threat inside.

Under-12, Akron leads 14-8.
We need to settle down. Seems like we're forcing things, and it's leading to giveaways on offense and being out of position on defense. This team can score - so we need to limit turnovers and make sure we're scoring with them.

I think we have to be open to the idea of it. Swingle has a little bit of talent, but he always finds himself in foul trouble, which forces him to play timid. We need a big who can stay on the floor - if that's going to be Washington for this team, I'm here for it.

BG is one something like a 9-0 run, and we've got a BG lead.
17-16 Falcons, with about 7:30 to play until halftime.

Akron's players all feel like they're the same size (minus LCJ) and they're super athletic and switchy. It's tough to play offense against. Need to shoot well and knock down open shots to win this one.

Juice might've hurt himself. Limped back on defense, then got subbed out at the next dead ball, with 4:31 to play in the first half. Something to watch.
