No, that’s not another Matt McDonald passing performance stat (although it would have been a good guess), it’s what Justin Turner has shot from the field for the past two games. He’s been really off from the floor, and his shot looks lost right now. He’s still scoring, but much of it is coming from the line and I really think his game is being altered (in a not good way) by playing as much point as he’s been. I don’t know if it’s tiring him out or just taking him out of his offense flow, but I think it’s having a negative effect on his game and his shooting is showing it.

Honestly I don't want anyone else on the team trying to play point guard vs other starters. Matheny has some good court vision and the occasional nice dime to go with - but gets burned vs other starters.
When I first saw that Juice's % seemed of, was when I also realized that other teams were hedging on the pick and roll SUPER high. And at first, Juice had no clue what to do with it. He's started splitting it and going down the middle to draw defenders / shoot the floater / draw a foul.
I think the issue is is that this is our ONLY offense. The one good stretch of ball we had v Ball State came when we started playing more of a motion offense and stopped with the drive and kick.
I would LOVE to see less dribbling and more ball movement.
I'd also like to see us punish that over-hedge by whipping a pass to the guy left wide open - the exact way that Akron did to us.
Also, since we have 3 guards on the floor at all times - how often is he guarding a forward? How often is he giving 20+ pounds away to the guy he's guarding? That could have an effect, too. And lord knows, when Matheny is out there, you sure cannot have Juice guarding anybody small.

While I like Matheny’s energy out there, he’s often out on control. There has been a number of times this year while I see him try to take a defender off the dribble and simply lose his feet and fall on the ground in the process of creating a turnover that often goes the other way for a bucket. It’s like his mind is racing 100 miles an hour and while he has quick feet, they’re only going about 90. He certainly has limitations based on his height and he is what I would call a player with good quickness, but he often appears to be trying too much at times and it’s sometimes his downfall. He appears to have very good court vision and intelligence for a young player, I just think he’s relying too much on things that used to get him by in high school that he can’t do right now at this level and it’s putting him in positions where he’s hurting the team at times.

This is why I want him learning about controlling his pace and the defenders with it from Juice instead of just trying to blow by people all the time.
You don't have to beat your man 100 - 0 on every possession.
If you can beat him 55 - 48 and ALSO pull a couple other guys out of synch in the process, then the teem is about 2 passes away from a really nice open shot.
But he needs to learn that first.
