That was completely rude and uncalled for

The Carlow players are human beings with feelings and dignity. Nobody anywhere deserves that level of public humiliation for any reason. This game should have been called at half and followed by an ice cream social. This winning-for-the-sake-of-winning mentality has gone way to far. It's time for the administration to take a hard look at itself. And, what were the players thinking as individuals?

This game should not have been scheduled. I don't love that Bowling Green schedules an NCAA Division III school once or twice a season, but I accept it. This is different. From the looks of it, this NAIA school would struggle mightily in NCAA Division III. I feel bad for the Celtic players.

It looks like Huger cleared his bench and eased up a bit in the second half. I give him some credit for that, I guess.

Even so, it would be interesting to know why this school was on our schedule. Did another game fall through very late?

I remember in football, during the Moe Ankney era, Tulsa cancelled a home game on us so late in the year that Bowling Green couldn't find a replacement. The Falcons played only 10 games that year (1990), finishing 3-5-2.

I understand wanting to fill the schedule no matter what. In this case, maybe it would have been better to leave this spot open.

I've heard that Emmanuel Christian High School in Toledo has a good team...maybe we can schedule them next year

Too bad the Falcon women were in Las Vegas, as scrimmaging them would have been a lot more fun AND competitive. πŸ˜‚

If we’re scheduling a Toledo high school, we should go with Whitmer and Coach Stacey.

Can't be having our former assistant out coach our current head coach now.

Carlow also played 2 DI schools in VMI and James Madison in November on consecutive nights.

Someone told me, and I do not know if it is true, this game was to be played in front of 1k screaming elementary kids from around the county. Being break time that makes sense and it also makes sense, due to the pandemic, it fell through.

I do suspect that was the case. In year's past when they've played these afternoon weeknight games they've brought in busloads of kids from area schools. In general I think that's a good idea, just wish they wouldn't make us pay for our tickets to the game.

And of course playing somebody like Carlow NEVER makes sense. I find it impossible to believe you "learn" anything as a team in a game like that. Especially since you've already played Ohio Wesleyan and Lake Erie...

Bring kids in for a game, this was not. Lourdes, Hberg, Tiffin, Defiance or Findlay would be better draws and better competition. A pair of guaranteed wins are fine but, this is just embarrassing to both squads. Might as well play the A-Z-Z.com All-Star team.

A lot of people here make it seem like BG is the only MAC school to schedule this way. Was Carlow a little egregious? Maybe but take a look at our next opponent's home schedule--Akron. They have played and soundly beaten a school named Point Park (not a square on Monopoly.) And who else in the MAC beat Point Park you ask. Well Buffalo did by 45 and Kent won by 66. However Point Park did vanquish Carlow as well by 21. And then Akron played Wheeling in a game that they hit the century mark and won by 61. This was a team that lost to Malone by 18 and ND of Ohio by 2. So you could probably easily go over every MAC schedule and find these easy wins. I get the argument for paying for such games in your season ticket package but It's not like this is a BG or Huger or Moose thing solely in today's NCAA.

Do Akron or Buffalo have a beneficiary who gave money for the specific purpose to "allow BG to host more games against bigger-name opponents?"

IDK but you can go ahead and research that along with the rest of the MAC and I will await your analysis.

Bob Moosbrugger & Huger are not doing with what the money was intended. It doesn't matter what the rest of the MAC is doing.

You literally just asked what the rest of the MAC is doing.
