vs. Miami (1/8)

Our previously-postponed game with Miami (7-5) has been rescheduled for this Saturday, January 8 at 5:00pm inside the Stroh Center. The game will be available on ESPN3 or ESPN+.
I don’t love that the game is on short notice, but the MAC schedule makes it virtually impossible to reschedule games, with no built-in breaks.
Go Falcons. Get back on track.

Kinda bummed that they rescheduled it for a Saturday evening, have to cancel Saturday plans to make the game. But on the flip side I was kinda worried that we may never actually get those games rescheduled and just lose out on the tickets.
Would be nice to actually win a MAC game. It's been awhile since we've made it to the Stroh so looking forward to that.

This is definitely a game we win by double digits and look great doing it just to rope us all back in.

Predictions for tonight.
A starter who is playing well gets their second foul in the first 10 minutes and never plays in the first half again. They come out firing in the 2nd half.... then never see the ball again after the 17 minute mark.
A player who is getting burned by their counterpart on the other team time and time again will be left in about 5 minutes too long, resulting in a 10 point swing in the score.
A guard who has not gone off lately will go off - it will NOT be Matheny.
Plowden will shoot under 50%
Diggs will hit a couple threes early. Then miss a couple because of regression to the mean. Then largely get ignored on offense after that.
Kula and Reece will not see the floor together even though the work well together. Kula staying more down low on defense and outside on offense.
We will run maaaaaaybe 2 pick and pops with Kula. Kula will be wide open. The other team will adjust it's defense accordingly, and we will not take advantage of it.
Somehow, we will win by 16 and think "Maybe we have the talent to overcome anyway."

This gives me so much sadness in its truth.

5 minutes into the game, Reece has 2 points on 1 of 2 shooting, and 3 boards.
And is on the bench.

Positive note about the team These guys can actually make a post entry pass. We went YEARS where that was not true.
And now, especially with O'neal, we have someone to pass it to down there.

Turner is in the game. Never did see him last game. Anybody know what was up with that?

Announcers say Turner rolled his ankle just prior to the game on Wednesday.

We were up 6 when Turner came in. Promptly let Miami go on a 9-2 run.
Then Young hits a 3 that they 100% let him take.

Kula makes his man hesitate in the post, and Turner comes in for the block!
3 starters come back, score tied.

Clear blocking foul on Miami called a charge on Plowden. Defender still sliding aand sticking his hip out some.
But we are playing like ass overall. Total hero ball.

Miami up 9 at halftime.
We look pitiful. Totally unprepared for MAC play.

Miami hits a 3 at the end after we terribly mis-manage our last possession. Miami 35, BG 26.
WE had 17 points in under 10 minutes. 7 the rest of the way.
