vs. Eastern Michigan (1/25)

Post by mbenecke »

On Tuesday, January 25, our Falcons (10-9, 3-5 MAC) will return home to the Stroh Center to take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles (7-10, 2-4 MAC). This game will begin at 7:00pm, and it's slated to be streamable through ESPN+.

EMU's resume is interesting. Obviously the roster is what it is, but they have close losses (Indiana by 6, Northern Kentucky by 1, Ball State by 6, Akron by 2) all over their schedule, so they seem like a team that is going to fight for everything.

This is a really important game for BG to keep fighting for a spot in the MAC tournament, so it's imperative we protect our home floor here. Kenpom has BG ranked 220, while EMU is ranked 268, so we need this one.

Go Falcons! Beat EMU.

I have no idea how you all can find the energy to still give a rip about this lame duck program.

I'm sure you've felt more pain from this program than I can even begin to imagine, my friend. Lol

I went to school with a lot of these guys so I still root really hard for them. I've shaken Huger's hands and chatted with him multiple times, so I still root really hard for him. Even though it always ends in pain, it still just doesn't make me quit them. Just can't help it. It's in our blood.

Yeah, I don't care anymore either. I watched the Western game because I figured we'd win. Other than that I usually check the score at half and tune in if it's evident they have a shot.

This is another game we "should" win. But.....we'll somehow find ourselves fighting like hell not to lose until the final horn. This team has no consistency whatsoever, and it was on full display vs WMU the other day. Twice we built 10-point leads and both times immediately blew them. We did manage to dig ourselves out of a late deficit that we should never have been in in the first place, but part of that had to do with WMU firing up desperation shots at the end of regulation. I could deal with this inconsistency if we had a roster lacking talent, but that's not the case. We have some talented guys, but we just can't seem to play well together or with the consistency needed. And that is very frustrating when watching this team.

The zone defense scares me because we've had better teams struggle (also could explain some of EMUs close games). We have to drive and move the ball quickly to open up the three instead of just throwing up threes. I don't like the matchup along with having to trust our defense if our offense is slowed down.

It's not easy to watch this year but I'm going to keep supporting. The TV games I watch in the background but I haven't found anything better to do on a Tuesday night or Saturday afternoon yet for the home games

I've been closely following this program since the mid-70s. I was a team manager under Larranaga and am still in contact with some of the guys and coaches.

I've NEVER been more severely disappointed by a BG Basketball team in my life. Just like with Orr, I find myself thinking that the program is in an intermediate state while we wait for the coach's contract to end.

Under 12 in the first half, BG leads 14-11. Reece to the line for 2 after the media timeout.

Under 8, BG leads 25-19.

That was a solid stretch there.

We have the #1 scoring offense in the MAC?! We don’t even run an offense! That’s an insane stat.

Nice pass from Myron Gordon to a cutting Trey Diggs, and BG has forced an EMU timeout with 5:56 to play in the first half.

Falcons lead 33-22.

Playing well so far. Good offense and sharing the ball. There have also been some pretty bad foul calls against BG.

#6 scoring offense in the country. Getting buckets isn’t the problem.
