My friend just called me and said she was watching a show on TLC and one of the trivia questions was who caused the masacre at BGSU in 1998? There was a massacre at BGSU in 1998?

I saw the same thing on there a few years ago. I looked it up and didn't see a thing about it. I'm willing to say it's not true.

Maybe it was 1898, but didn't have anything to do with the university, just the city. There was some deal where a guy went bipolar on his wife or something and hacked her up, took their kids and all the money he had to a relative's house and then turned himself into police. I think the Wood Co. History Museum has some stuff on it, including three of the woman's fingers in a jar. I stumbled upon that a few weeks ago while diddling around online... weird s**t, man.

Or that works, too.
I always remember the one where they said there would be a massacre at "the school with the dorms shaped like swastikas", and Harshman/Kreischer were close enough in some people's minds...

That Little Bo Peep murder rumor was *hot* at BGSU back in 1988-89.
The variant I heard pretty much meshed with what that Web site is retelling: That an axe murder dressed as Little Bo Peep would strike on an Ohio college campus on Halloween in a dormitory shaped liked a swastika. Ohio had three college dormitories in the shape of a swastika, it was said, and two of them were Kreischer and Harshman.
(They aren't actually shaped like swastikas, but one could easily believe it if you lived in them and had not seen an aerial view).
