BG uses way too much Orange and not enough Brown in general. Orange should be the accent not the primary color.

I'm not sure I've ever disagreed with a sentence more in the history of this board.

A line of brown is more than enough brown... We should be 90% orange at all times. Orange is cool. Orange is fun. Brown is literally the color of s**t.

I have always despised coloring in the area between the 3 pt arc and the key. I'll never not hate that.

I thought the Ohio outline was cool until I heard that were like the third or fourth school in Ohio to do it.

They put something similar on the hockey jerseys last season. Think it was an outline of the state with a star over BG. It actually makes some sense to do it, to stand apart from Western Kentucky. It's hard to like it when everybody else is doing the same, though.

Yeah we’ll have to agree to disagree on that one. Seal brown with some orange highlights is what I’d want my teams wearing for their non white jersey. To me too much orange looks cheap.
I’m not saying everything should be brown, but BG has gone way too orange heavy both in uniforms and facility design. Most of the orange is the wrong color too…burnt orange is the school color not highlighter orange or orange/pinkish color.

Much to my surprise, I like it a lot, it looks much better. Well done BG!

Way too heavy on orange in facility design? Hell, every single seat except the little bleachers behind the west basket is brown. And further, the brown seats make the arena look drab, which is not what you want, especially from a newer venue. Orange should always be the prominent color. Orange pops, brown plops! Period.

And let’s not kid ourselves why we’re one of the few schools in the country to actually use brown. It’s not that we’re unique. It’s because nearly everyone chose something better and more appealing to the masses. Every time I hear the story how BG got its colors, I think to myself, man that must’ve been a hideous looking hat that lady was wearing on that bus.

But back to the topic at hand…this floor design is very well done. It was much needed and I applaud those who created it. I don’t always like our designs, but this one is appealing on many levels. Well done.

The school colors are awesome…they just need to cut down on so much orange.
Football field has way too much orange on the field and in the stands, baseball and softball fences with all the orange look awful. Football has a couple decent jersey combos, hockey does a good job for the most part. The majority of our non-revenue teams look like high school teams with their uniforms.

In my view, the orange really pops as an accent color in a sea of brown. The combination doesn't seem to work nearly as well in reverse. To my eye, a small amount of brown gets lost in a sea of orange.

As far as the official colors: I've certainly heard the terms "seal brown" and "burnt orange" over the years, but they do not appear to be the current standards, if they ever were:

It would be interesting to try to research the history of this and see if the colors have evolved a bit over time. Perhaps someone has.

hammbone, we're gonna disagree all over town on this one. Our shade of orange is bright and loud. We use way too much of it in giant splotches. The way we use it is hard on the eyes. We should have a lot less of it.
