BB scrimmage today

Post by Siborg »

If anyone attends, please give us a review.

Per the BGSU website:

"The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program will return to Bill Frack Court on Sunday (Oct. 16) for the Orange and Brown Scrimmage. The scrimmage is set for a 3:00 p.m. tip at the Stroh Center.

One entrance will be open for the event. Fans looking to attend can enter through the Falcon Entrance of the Stroh Center at the southeast corner of the facility. Doors will open at 2:00 p.m. The scrimmage will be free and open to the public to get a first look at the 2022-23 BGSU men's hoops team.

The Brown Team will include Kaden Metheny, Samari Curtis, Chandler Turner, Sam Towns, Gabe O'Neal, Anthony McComb III and Jackson Watson. As for the Orange Team, the roster will consist of Willie Lightfoot, Brenton Mills, Leon Ayers III, Rashaun Agee, Ubongabasi Etim, Madani Diarra and Isaac Elsasser. "

I didn't go. Judging by past attendance at these sorts of things there might have been 150 people there, best guess is none of them have accounts to post here.

The university does a shitty job making them entertaining for fans, so I don't go out of my way anymore. We had soccer game at 1, then went home and watched NFL.

I did re-up my tickets today, they caught me in a spot of weakness. My son wants to keep going, so at the very least it's quality family time. Plus what the heck else we gonna do for fun in winter in NW Ohio. Looking at the rosters released for this scrimmage I don't know how this team gets to 10 wins even playing the sisters of the poor Huger special schedule. If we win 8 MAC games I'll be stunned.

Ken Pom has us at something like 276 nationally...EMU and one or two other MAC schools are below us. This year is really going to suck

So what you’re saying is since we haven’t been able to live up to the pre season hype the past handful of years THIS is actually our year since there are no expectations \:D/

I have no optimism or excitement for this team. Honestly, it’ll be a chore to have to watch them if they aren’t competitive, and this might be the first time since I was in school that I truly tune out of a BG MBB season.

Bought season tickets for the first time in a decade. Kids are at BG, so I have no obligations for their high school activites anymore. I am just hoping for fresh popcorn. I have set the bar low, so an 8 win season won't be bad since I can now get out of the house foe something different.

I'm interested in Felt, Agee, and Lightfoot. On paper, these guys look like they good be very effective players right out of the gate.

It will also be interesting to see if Curtis and Turner have the break-out seasons that the team needs.

Your expectations are way too high if you are hoping for fresh popcorn.

I have zero expectations for this team. I expect them to be horrible. They were horrible last year and they return (I think) less than 40ppg in scoring. Yes, somebody will have to score, but none of the returners were efficient scorers in their limited opportunities last year. Hell we're returning a couple of guys that will be expected to play roles this year that scored less than a point per shot attempt; that's insanely bad. There is not a single returning player on this squad that I think has even honorable mention All-MAC potential. At BEST these guys are 4th/5th options on a decent MAC team.

It's just not imaginable, no matter how good the freshmen may be, for this team to compete. It's conceivable that the newcomers are 3 of the top 5 players on this roster, but that's not saying a whole lot. I just hope one of these guys look like a future player. I will never root for us to lose, but we absolutely must be bad enough to get rid of this joke of a coach. It is becoming increasingly clear that he lucked into a couple of good recruits early and has done jack s**t since. Never a good in game coach, teams always get worse as the year goes on, and now we don't even have All-MAC caliber players here.

There is zero basketball reason to attend games. It's what we do in winter time and my kid loves it. It's quality family time. Despite the Athletic Department doing everything in their power to make attendance a chore, we still enjoy it.

We renewed our tickets. Last year, my son liked to watch the people run around and throw a ball, and he loved seeing Freddie and Frieda and walking the concourse. Maybe this year we'll get into the games a little bit more. It's something fun for us to do as a family.

For kids..nothing could beat the upper deck at the south end of Anderson Arena. When she was a toddler, my daughter loved running around up there..it was like a family area with the number of kids there.

Good times....
