You're both mad they didn't fire him last season and mad they have to pay him not to coach.

Nobody made Chris Jans act like an idiot and irritate influential alums - his bad, "sack up" as DD would say.

Huger got within ONE win of the NCAA tournament which is the ultimate goal.

Bancroft Tech's last dance was 1980 (no banners worth a nickle since in my opinion), just 12 years after BG.

The sad part is when you get one win away you would expect to get better recruits and become a perennial finalist at worst, it is not happening.

We can rewrite history but it seems obvious to me you keep those who get you that close hoping that they have a road map for that journey and will succeed soon. It appears that is not his destiny if he stays because the map to Cleveland has been lost which leaves no shot at the finals.

One more sad chapter that makes predicting that the next coach will fail likely. So start the thread now how the current AD and his assistants are incompetent and you'll likely look like a prophet. It much easier to predict and find failure - ENJOY YOURSELF!

Clearly this is irrelevant with the news breaking a bit ago that Huger is being let go, but your logic (like that of Moose before) is completely wrong. Yes, UT has continually failed to get to the dance as well (one of the few things that gives me solace in our neverending run of crap), but you can quite easily look at the coaches on the 2 sidelines and realize one is worth retaining and the other was not. And that holds true even going back to when Huger got that extension.

Huger was a sub .500 coach. His teams got worse every single year in Feb/March. You gave him an extension because he did recruit one solid group of upper tier MAC talent and got out of their way enough to get them to the title game. Still, he was under .500 in MAC play at the time of his extension. Meanwhile Kowalczyk has a winning percentage of over .600 in MAC play has won 7+ MAC games every season except his first, and 7x finished #1 in his division/conference.

These 2 are a perfect juxtaposition of coaches that have failed to win the tournament, but 1 is worth continuing to give shots to and the other is not. Honestly, Kowalcyyk makes a lower salary than Huger (although has a substantial "media bonus" putting him above Huger). But I have no idea how they've kept a coach with his track record of winning there this long. UT fans better hope he gets them over the hump this week because I just don't see how they can keep him around much longer.
