This should be interesting. I don't actually expect a mass exodus with how the team is put together. Certainly we will have some attrition.
The Seniors who were highlighted on Sr night
Leon Ayers III
Isaac Elsasser
Chandler Turner
Madani Diarra
Gabe O'Neal
Leaving
2023-2024 (4 scholarships)
1 Metheny 5-11 So 6.2p 2.8a 21.6(3%) 24.7m Lightfoot 6-0 Fr

You have to have a team that wants you to leave and come join them. I see very few players on our current roster that other D1 teams will want. Let’s hope over the next three weeks we can land a coach.

Metheny-lightfoot-Curtis-towns and Agee would all find soft landings on d 1 rosters.
Mills already has a couple years of 10+ppg
other three are just question marks due to youth.
We’re in a good place.

The roster needs to be turned over...almost as badly as the coaching staff. Blow it all out

We just fired a coach with two years left on his contract. We have no All MAC talent on the roster. We are the opposite of in a good place, we are at the absolute rock bottom. Ken Pom agrees.

I think Globe meant “good place” as in we’re starting from scratch and we will have the opportunity to quickly rebuild if we hire the right coach.

This roster is going to allow a fresh coach to add some solid guys and compete immediately. We will have one of the best big tandems in the league and a very solid even though not complete PG. I have a very strong feeling Lightfoot isn't going anywhere too.

Nope. The framework is there to add a star and compete immediately. A lot of these guys have already transferred a bunch and will just want to graduate here.
BUT....he does start with 4 scholarships at least---probably a few more AND then 4 more after that. This new coach will put his mark on the team immediately.

What the new coach is getting
3 10ppg upper classmen and a Sr big
1-Curtis 6-4 Sr, 12.9p, 3.5r, 4.1a (2.6to) 31.8-3% in 28min: Undisciplined but in his final year. 3 stops already and I doubt he looks for a fourth. A good coach might be able to settle him down. A very quality distributor at times.
2-Metheny 5-11 Jr, 10.7p, 2.6a(1.3to) 38.3-3%: Massive improvement in shooting and scoring. At worst he stretches the floor for a slasher and a quality big who can score.
3-Agee 6-8 Sr, 9.9p, 5.7r, 1.1b 52.8(2%) in 18.2min: Bully around the basket. I think he could be the best player on the team if used correctly. Pairs very well a guy who can stretch the floor and a slasher.
4-Towns 6-9 Sr, 6.1p, 4.4r 55.7(2%) in 18.8min: Barely hit the stat line at OU but proved to be a capable rotational big with a decent midrange game.
5-Mills 6-3 Sr+ 5.1p 33.3(3%) in 23.7min: Came on after being put in the starting lineup. Showed he could play in the rotation at guard but won't be anything special
6-Lightfoot 6-0 So 3.7p 1.6a in 11.2min: Highly thought of freshman who showed flashes here and there but could never settle into a consistent role
7-McComb 6-3 Fr 7.4min: Played sparingly but didn't look out of place early in the season
8-Etim 6-8 So(r) 5.6min: Bigs are hard to find and tend to take awhile to contribute. He had 10 rebounds in the final game, whatever that means. Seems athletic enough to be depth piece
9-Felt 6-9 Fr(r): Redshirted but there was some hype here about his very difficult to find tape
You've got 5-6 pieces to a 9 person rotation already in place.

I’ll be shocked if 3 of those pieces play on next years team. The roster will turnover and it should. The talent level of the current roster isn’t good.

Agee is decent for 15 minutes or so a night. Metheny is a 3rd or 4th guard...Towns is a back up big. The rest of those guys are question marks...no way of knowing if they can play D1 ball or not

We could have a roster of terrible players or we could have multiple All-MAC players. With the coaching, every player got worse during the season. Until we get new coaching, you really don’t know what we have.

Jamai Felt looks like an awesome prospect that we seemed to have forgotten about. I hope he sticks around.

He wasted an entire year at BG. I wish him well.
