Following a victory over Niagara, our Falcons (2-3) will be back on the road, this time heading south to take on the Bellarmine Knights (0-5) down in Louisville, KY. The game will take place on Saturday, November 23 at 3:00pm, and will be streaming on ESPN+.
This Bellarmine team has... not been good so far this season. Obviously they are winless, but they have lost by 21 against Marshall, by 19 against VCU, and by 32 against Louisville. Good competition, but not competitive.
They did beat us last year, so we do need to come into this with a good level of fight with us, but we should win this game. We've gotta figure out a way to take care of business on the road for the first time this season.
Go Falcons. Get it done.

Solid showing last night against niagra. This is part 2 of the week where we should emerge victorious. Bellarmine obviously embarrassed us on our home court last year, but i feel we are better equipped to handle them this time around. I would like to see us lock in for a full 40 going into next week’s tournament. The stretch of ball i saw yesterday where we built a commanding lead showed that this team can be special if they are dialed in. We seem to have a formula developing offensively playing through johnson, can’t wait to see how we build off of that.

It really feels like something special is brewing this season but at this point our biggest problem is consistent effort. It might be a combination of getting guys used to Div I, getting them used to playing together, figuring out the best lineups and figuring out which guys bring it when the lights are on. I think coach has touched on all these subjects. You can see how much potential there is when we play hard like we did 2/3 of the MSU game. In our defense our starters had to play too many minutes but it was evident we have a roster that can compete in March.

Last year Bellarmine had us in a blender with ball movement and shotmaking. THeir talent level was below ours. It is likely way below what we have now.
We need to start seeing more consistent effort defensively. IF we're not going to rotate, Bellarmine will light it up as they did last year. I think the offensive talent on our roster is as good as I've ever seen it. Last night was another step in putting it together on that end, but they have to guard. And they're going to have to do it for 40 mins.

Why does officiating seem lopsided against us this year?

I haven't watched too closely but if we remember to put the ball in the hoop we'll be fine just like the niagara game. Defense actually seems okay

I haven’t watched anything, but we’re getting killed. Disappointing season so far.

We look like a Huger team with better talent. Very little defensive effort, no crashing the boards and hero ball.

I have been high on Simon but this has been a very ugly season. Hats off for bringing in much better offensive talent but what are we doing out there?

This one is a total embarrassment. Just like last year a team of talented athletes gets its doors blown off because Bellarmine shows up and actually executed the game of basketball.
For the life of me I will never understand putting the ball in trey Thomas's hands all game long. He's terrible. And you can't run an offense through a 6'7 kid that can't move no matter how skilled he is. We do nothing on offense most of the game and defensively just don't ever seem to give a damn.
Awful effort all around

It's not.
We don't guard for s**t so by the time we decide to stop somebody it's foul or let them score, were already beaten.
Conversely on the other end we don't do anything to draw fouls. Drive and kick, don't get to the rim enough and our bigs would all rather shoot 3s than layups.

I question what Trey is supposed to do out there. We don’t really seem to run an offense. Get better defenders on the floor. Our lineups are a head scratcher for me.hammb wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 9:41 pm This one is a total embarrassment. This is a learn from it and burn it
I think by mac play our best 5 is Campbell, butler, yoyo, johnson, and towns. Let Thomas play off the bench and if his shot is falling he can play starter minutes. Rest of the bench is felt and Green then exacte if needed
