Arizona Tip-Off (11/29-11/30)

BG next plays in the Arizona tip-off next Friday and Saturday. They will play Weber State first, and then they will play the winner or loser (whichever we do) of the Pepperdine-New Mexico State.
The game looks like it is streaming on some weird site that from what I can tell is something you would have to pay $26.99 for a month’s subscription to watch both games, so I won’t be watching, but you can access that link through BG’s athletic department website.
I don’t expect a ton from this event. We’re the lowest rated team from a Kenpom standpoint, and we’re also not playing good basketball right now. With us also being the only team dealing with a massive time zone shift, as well, it just feels like a disaster waiting to happen.

This will be a solid test for these guys coming off the bellarmine loss. Some solid MM comp here, i think they’ll play better than they did yesterday but hard to tell how this tourney will play out. A win would be nice but just looking for improvement.

Anyone got anything on what's up with Towns? He and Khayat both did not start. Towns not in photo of team in Arizona, Khayat is.

No minutes for Khayat in the first half. Exacte starts and squire getting bench minutes

Seemed like it was close throughout but as we should be used to, BG falls late. Only went 8 guys deep, without either guy playing. Who knows.
This team is not good. Running an offense through Johnson and Thomas will be a disaster I'm afraid. 7 assists to 14 TOs!? Wtf...

Despite some good games, running the offense thru a guy like Johnson was jever going to be sustainable.
As for Thomas, I don't know what Simon sees in him. Heck, his numbers at Vanderbilt were bad and I was disenthused when we signed him.

Did anyone get to watch it? Do we have some kind of culture dumpster fire going on?
I too agree coach must see something in Thomas that nobody else does.

It seems like we are using this tournament to try a creative lineup or to give some people a breather. Otherwise, I have idea why we would play Exacte and Squire so much when it seems like we had moved away from them earlier.

Someone mentioned Khayat might have been injured toward the end of the Bellarmine game. I have no idea on Towns, but it appears he did not make the trip.

I had forgotten until reminded but Khayat did land on somebody's foot and his ankle looked pretty bad. It was the last minute or two of the game.

I don’t believe Humphrey has dressed either of the last two games either. Some form of injury.

BG beats N. Mex St. 61-60 as Campbell sinks 2 FTs with 10 seconds left and Butler blocks the last NM St shot. Both teams shot poorly from the field but BG sank a whole bunch of FTs at nearly a 90% clip.

They said on the radio that BG was down to 10 guys. So who is missing and why?

Unsure of what is going on with multiple guys not dressing aside from Yoyo being injured, but competing with a decent Weber St team and beating a better Nm state team shows this team has some potential. We aren’t the only team in the conference struggling (see Toledo’s 30 point L to Oakland) but these next 4 games are a perfect time to continue to gel and find the right combination of guys.
