Going forward I think we’ve learned the value of Juco guys, and maybe most of them come in wired tougher for this league than the guys recruited to big schools who fall to the MAC.

Also if you couldn’t find the court with all the injuries this year, it’s time to build a roster without dead space. Move on from all those at the end of the bench.

I've ALWAYS been of the belief that if we're taking transfers I'd rather have kids transferring up than down. But then I'd also put a high value on taking somebody already having experienced the MAC and Butler has been all over the place this year. Of course looking at his numbers this year and last it's not like he's fallen off, he's just maddingly inconsistent (no clue if that was the case last year as well).

Still, looking at what we added this year I think Johnson/Campbell/Butler have added the most and they were from the MAC or Juco ranks. For the life of me I cannot figure out what Green does well on a basketball court that had him going to the Pac12...it's insane. Exacte has a body that looks like he should be a contributor. And maybe 2-3x a game he'll use that body to get a tough offensive board and some put back points, but more times than not he's content to just hang out on the perimeter and pass the ball around...rarely dribbles, never makes a good interior pass, and his 3ball is just not good.

I think Simon's MO is to play a rotation of 8, maybe 9, guys no matter what. So you're always going to have depth pieces that don't get a lot of playing time. Losing 2 of that top 8 really hurt this year, but as I've said before no way they expected this production from Felt, so it's been alleviated somewhat, although he plays a vastly different style of game than Towns would've. I think there's a place for some of those end of bench guys that haven't seen the floor this year to stick around and develop, but I'm 100% with you that they better look in the mirror and see what they can do to get better if they're not seeing the floor on this team. Squire can't play a lick, I disliked his recruiting profile, and dislike the player I've seen even more... I didn't think Pardon looked like a MAC player in this HS tape, doesn't look like one in his little playing time either. Who knows what Maxamud is, but I'm sure he's bailing again as soon as the season ends regardless.

To me if you can keep Felt, YoYo, and Campbell around you try to do so. If Towns or Butler can somehow get another year of eligibility and stay I'd welcome them back as well. Beyond that, as it will be every year, you're building a roster from scratch again. I'd target Juco guys comfortable scoring the ball. I'd love to see a legit pass-first PG; we want to build the offense off dribble penetration, but don't have guys that can consistently win off the bounce...even if he couldn't finish like Hill, if it was somebody capable of winning his dribble and making the pass I'm in. Then, as always, premium on athleticism and length. I'm not a fan of a Johnson type at all, despite his scoring prowess (although he'd be more valuable if we had a guard capable of getting him the ball in better spots); to me I want my forwards to be able to play defense and rebound.

That trend started with Moosbrugger (whose kid (maybe kids) is still getting free tuition) because of the lack of standards. Rumors are Jim Elsasser is retiring this summer, so maybe the trend will be coming to an end. Spurgin, Pardon, Squire, Maxamud aren't playable and I would assume Adem is probably not coming back. Some combination of those guys are scholarship. That's excessive in non playable players and it showed when the injuries happened.

Pardon is a Freshman. I think it's a little reckless to write off a player that early in their collegiate career. If you go back and look at some of the BG players that have gone on to do awesome things, they generally weren't very good as freshman. In fact, it wasn't that long ago that freshman never stepped on the court for pretty much any team.

Of the players we have now on the team with eligibility remaining, I'd like to keep Campbell, Pardon, Exacte, Felt, and Khayat. If they have another year, I'd like to keep Towns, Butler, Humphrey, and Thomas. Yes, I realize I'm saying we can cut the conference scoring leader, but his defense is terrible because he can't move. His attitude on the court sucks - watch how he reacts when his shot doesn't fall or he gets beat on defense, it's apathy. We can replace that offense, and any upgrade on defense should be welcomed. I don't know why he isn't running steps daily just to get quicker.

This is interesting to me. On one hand, that's the rule, so I don't blame her for trying to enforce the policies that are in place.

But on the other, it's definitely a dumb rule. I get that they need lots to be staffed/supervised, but like... I go into the game when the gates open. So 2 hours isn't that long to tailgate before a game. Definitely feels like the rule could be adjusted, but I don't think it's necessarily Jamie's fault that the rule exists, is it?
