The MAC Tournament....where BG goes to die!!!

BG is the only.....ONLY.....school to never, ever win the MAC Tournament. This was the 45th year of the event (started in 1980) and it continues to be an insurmountable obstacle for this program. No matter the players, coaches, seeds or opponents, one thing is a guarantee - BG won't win it! That said, it also protects BG's ever-important 57-year-long run on its NCAA Tournament appearance (way back in 1968 )- alive and well! We'd hate to ever forget that glorious year of 1968! BG likes to give that banner plenty of space in the rafters, as to not congest it with other, more modern additions up there. More banners equals more dust and BG likes a clean, empty basketball arena. And let us not forget that BG also preserves its whopping two postseason wins in the last five decades or so in two obscure tournaments that no one knows of or can even name. Rest assured, this latest loss to Akron, which was the 37th time BG's lost to the Zips in the last 42 meetings, will go down as not only another MAC Tournament failure, but one where Akron hit threes like free throws and BG made them like they half court shots. Ah yes, it's rare air being the most irrelevant program in D-I basketball. There are over 350 programs out there that BG must fight off to keep that label as. And yet somehow, with each passing year, BG makes itself, well, even more irrelevant each year. Ah, but let's look at the bright side. There's always next year! BG alums and fans have only been saying that for 45 or 57 consecutive years now (depending on which failure you focus on). So after we lose more players after this game to the portal, we can all watch another conference opponent cut down the net and think at least we ALL have something in common. There isn't a single one of us - or another human being on the face of the earth for that matter - that's ever seen BG do it either. We're all part of this pathetic history together! Let us thank the MAC Tournament for yet another title-less year. Roll Along!
