On Thursday, March 12, our Falcons (18-13) will head to Cleveland to take on the Toledo Rockets (17-14). When it comes to these two’s history in March, this is more like a stoppable force vs. movable object. Nonetheless, due to the rivalry nature of it, it still has the feel of a heavyweight fight.

Game will begin around 1:30 on Thursday (official supposed to be 25 minutes after the Miami vs. UMass game), and will stream on ESPN+. Winner of this one will draw the winner of Game 1 on Friday evening.

I was thinking the same thing. You created a game thread!!!

I figured the tournament was a chance to start fresh.

I predict that Toledo will be favored by 4. They’ve shown some improvement I recent weeks.

Here's how I rank the teams heading into Cleveland, in terms of their CEILING (i.e. they play their best possible game):

1. Akron (Most talent by far and have looked like the best team the last few weeks)
2. Miami (plays the best team ball and can shoot the lights out)

*Tier Drop*

3. Kent (Most talented in this tier but also can be beaten by any team in this tier, gets the easiest 1st round opponent IMO)
4. BG (If The team that beat Kansas State shows up)
5. Buffalo* (if Freitag is healthy... he hasn't played in a month but was a game-time-decision in their last game before sitting out... they could make noise. But tough draw vs Akron)
6. Toledo (Playing their best ball now, teams in this 3-6 tier are REALLY close to each other IMO)

7. UMass (Bettiol could give Miami some problems but if he gets in foul trouble they're not a great team)
8. OU (Not much besides Pavaletzke/Simmons/Hadaway)
9*. Buffalo without Freitag

To get to the finals, BG just needs to:
-beat a Toledo team they beat by 10 last time they played
-beat a UMass team they swept in the regular season, including beating by 19 last time they played

In my opinion the start has been absolutely wild officiating. We are going to get blown out of the arena if we can’t get any whistles. Also, it’s been an atrocious defensive plan so far.

We've shown we have the ability to hang with just about anybody in the league.

We've also shown that we can lose to literally anybody in the league.

Let's see which team shows up.

This is another classic example of when officiating doesn’t go our way we have no other tricks in the bag. This coaching staff will never get us there until they get guys who can shoot. If your only offense is driving to the rim then you are 100% reliant on how the game is called.

Playing pretty poorly. 10 points in almost 10 minutes of play.

Yeah not a fan of where this one is right now at all, but UT is making a ton of contested/step-back shots too. Maybe they'll cool off. As is typical our offense is mostly crap in the half court (especially with Campbell sitting).
