WOW. I think we are a better team than Kent. I think us or Western should be playing Southern Illinois. What do you all think.

My Thoughts

I think this is a very boring match-up for the Falcons. This is really a no-win situation for us. A win means nothing and a loss hurts. Not that it hurts our chances at The Dance since we all know the only way a MAC team makes the dance this year is by winning at the Gund, which is fair enough I guess. I doubt anyone here thinks the MAC is a two team league right now.

This match couldn't suck any more if it were made by Monic.....ah, the hell with it.

So it's pretty safe to say that we should only expect regional TV coverage?

Not exactly who I was hoping to get, but it is another D-I non-conference home game and I'll take it. We actually had a home and home with UALR in 1999-2000 and swept them. UALR is 12-8 overall, and actually just played in a 5-overtime game the other day with FIU!!! I guess we'll take what we can get, but yeah, I don't expect any TV.

Western probably SHOULD be playing SIU, but since they were both slated to be road teams, it couldn't happen without swapping that around. I think Kent got that matchup based on past reputation and availability, not because they've been blown out twice in the last three weeks.

Western's right around #40 at this point. That's at-large material if they don't win at the Gund. Every year, we have a team with an at-large calibre RPI, but they always win the tourney. Other conferences haven't been as consistenly unluck as the MAC.

I don't remember what our RPI was in 2002 but it should have been good enough, especially making it to the final game of the mac tourney.

For good reason, there is a very deep bitterness among us BG fans concerning the entire scenerio surrounding NCAA Tournament selection. When we're boarderline, we're consistently passed over. We're penalized for not playing a strong enough schedule by the committee, but then the "major", big-money programs won't schedule us when we're good. The entire thing is a crock of sh1t.

Well, as has been hashed and rehashed on here before, I'll quote the movie Major Leage:

"I guess there's only one thing left to do"

"Whats that?"

"Win the whole *Falcon* thing!"

You know what though? Hopefully the constant success of our football program will actually get people to notice our basketball program. I dont know if it will, but it people keep hearing the BG name out there then maybe we will start getting looked at in BBALL too.

Guess we'll find out in 10 days.

I agree though...this isn't the best matchup for BGSU. Oh well...I'll still be there selling 50/50 tickets.

GO BG!! BEAT AKRON!!
