I know we have a short bench and that we don't turn to it for much offensive production, but man! 33-2? I sure as heck our recruits next year can score, because when Almanson, Reimold and Eyink depart after this season, I see Wright scoring for us but who the heck else?

Soler is going to be great and will definitely be scoring next year. With Almonson gone, our twin towers will have to step up and make up for him. Matt and Scott don't really get a lot of playing time now, but I'm sure they will be ready for next season, too. We are losing the majority of our 3-point shots so I'm hoping someone steps up there. Really though, I'm more worried about the rest of this year rather than next.

I agree that I can see this season going down the crapper in a hurry. At Toledo, Kent, and Western looks like at least three more losses.
Don't get me started about next season as I seriously seeing us being horrible. I don't see Lefeld or Vandermeer being able to come close to replacing Josh. Lefeld is in his second season here and hardly plays at all. What makes you think it will be any different next season? Montgomery?

Who knows if Fitch will ever play again. But if he does, he is not a scorer. Floyd does all right, but Moon is all or nothing. Watch every game and see if he doesn't have at least one turnover on the first three offensive possesions he is involved with. Soler is a role player at best that only scores because the defense is focusing on other guys. When those guys are gone, he will struggle. That leaves Wright as our only credible player returning. And I have said before, I can see him going Ron Lewis on us and doing things on his own. Oh, and we have two walk-ons that will be back.
And I don't want to hear that we have great recruits coming in. Why should I think they will be any good? Because Dakich has had so many good recruits in the past?

We are in serious trouble if that is the case.

But on the topic of Akron outscoring our bench, you can pretty much expect that when our bench plays a total of 33 minutes. (Akron's bench played 106!) And you wonder why Josh was unable to slide over and cutoff the game winning layup? Maybe he could have had a break or two.
Todd Walker brought up the fatigue issue during the post-game interview with Dakich. DD pretty much brushed it off and said our kids "battled" all night. Whatever. Akron was still fresher at the end and able to finish because of it. Just my opinion.
