What's with all the anti Mike Reghi sentiment? He may not be Bob Costas but I think he is a great announcer. I also think it says alot about a guy who does MAC games nights the Cavs are off, shows he doesnt have a big head and likes his profession enough to do whatever he can. I work for WBGU and I talked to him for a while after the game, seemed like a really nice guy. All I've seen people say is "Mike Reghi sucks" and not give a reason? Whats wrong with him?

And just for the record, Dave Weekly is about the worst announcer above local high school sports there is.

His attitude, at least in the past, rubbed alot of people the wrong way. I remember a lot of "don't you know who I am" attitude at times around the MAC tournament, and watching him work a room at a bar was almost more funny than anything. To be fair, I don't think I ever met the guy or talked to him, just seeing him around and his "act" makes me laugh. I will give him credit for doing MAC games after some of the jobs he's had with professional sports, though.

I've got no problem with him. In fact, I think he's one of the best at what he does. He's certainly reached the pinnacle of his profession... from Toledo sports anchor to full-time NBA team announcer with the team with the biggest rising star the NBA has ever seen... I'm impressed. Plus, back in the day when he was doing ONLY Toledo market stuff, he was always quick to say hi to the bass player in the band and even recognized me away from Anderson Arena at Franklin Park mall. He might have a bit of a chip on his shoulder, but most highly successful people do to some degree.

Actually, I remember Reghi being on channel 35 out of Lima before moving up to Toledo. I also remember thinking 'how in the heck is a guy this good doing the sports in podunk Lima, OH?'

We don't "hate him" we just want to be able to remind him where he came from. As I've noted with some of your posts and your signature you are newer to the BGSU scene- Reghi was the Channel 13 sports anchor and used to do play by play for some BG-TU games as well as the BG victory over No. 5 Michigan State at Anderson.


And be careful what you say about local high school announcers, we take that stuff personally!!!

Not to say high school announcers aren't good, I used to be one. I'm saying Dave Weekly is not good enough to be doing DI college basketball on TV.

Michael Reghi is great. He gets into the game and makes it exciting. You can't ask for anything more.
