Ohio State leads an impressive list of schools that has already contacted Lewis, including Cincinnati, UCLA, Indiana, Boston College, Wright State, and Oakland amongst many others....

Reportedly, one condition of Lewis’ release is that he is not allowed to go to any fellow MAC school, and he’s also not allowed to go to Cleveland State,Nebraska, or Norfolk State.

There is not yet any confirmation of whether or not any of these schools have officially extended a scholarship offer, only that they indeed have contacted Lewis.

Lewis's departure won't show up in the win-loss column. Steven Wright will fill the role better than Lewis did. We have Soler and Fitch to pitch in at the mid-range position. I've already forgotten about Lewis.

It doesn't matter which of those schools that he picks. He's not good enough at point guard to play there for any of them. Transferring isn't going to be a substitute for being a good ballhandler, passer, and shooter. I hope he snaps out of his fog, gets some decent advice, and starts being honest with himself about what he needs to do to play in the NBA. Right now, he has a long, long, long way to go.

Yeesh...someone on the OSU board that sleepy linked to said that Ron "defends well". Was there another Ron Lewis playing here he last couple of years? The one I saw definitely does not match that description...

It's sad how blind you guys really are. I guess it doesn't matter that all the high profile teams that actually go to the Big Dance year after year wants Lewis to play for them. It's tiring seeing everyone saying that Ron didn't do this and didn't do that. He was our best player without a doubt, with Reimold as our second best player. You can say that he wasn't really that good because he isn't with BG anymore but you're only fooling yourselves.

I was critical of Ron's defense and consistency long before he left. I think he could be an effective SF at the collegiate level. He's kidding himself if he thinks he can be an NBA PG.

Tough times ahead for BG Hoops! It will be interesting to see how Dakich can get back to being competitive.

I totally agree. Last year Ron was in a funk. I was dissapointed in his play because his Freshman year he showed that he could have been a star player here. This past season he showed a glimpse here and there of what he is capable of but here and there isn't enough. I think him being in a different situation will be good for him.

With the whole PG thing, I believe his thinking is that yeah I can play SF in college but if I make it to the next level there's no way I'm cutting it as a small forward. If you look on any NBA roster you're not going to see a 6'3/6'4 small forward. They're all 6'7 or taller. All the guys that are at lewis' height are PG's, heck Jason Kidd and Bob Sura both look small out there and Kidd is 6'3 and Sura has an inch or so on Lewis at 6'5.

Lewis has a lot of improving to do no doubt, but I think if he really wants to be a pg he'll bust his butt in practice and so on to get the opportunity to do so. He still has plenty of time.


A concern that I have at our PG spot currently at BG is Wright and his turnovers. He was sloppy with the ball. We can't run an offense if we can't get the ball to the top of the key. I'm hoping during the summer between threatening to leave the team several times that he was practicing ball handling skills and decision making skills.

I agree Ronnie was our best overall player. But, if its true he didn't want to commit to the team so he could work on his NBA resume, so be it.
I hated to see him go cuz he is fun to watch and has great athleticism.

Guess we'll find out how much we miss him very soon.
