Now that the falcon's are 9-6 (like 3 or 4 other teams) where does this leave BG in the Conference standings? Anyone know what it would take for a Mac Tourny first round bye at this point? :?

We are about as likely to have to play a first round game on the road now as we are of getting first round bye. Losses to Miami and Western could leave us at 10-8 with MANY others. Losing last night was a huge blow to our MAC tourney sedding.

"TOURNAMENT TIME
For the MAC Tournament (March 7 on campus sites, and March 10-12 at Gund Arena), each division winner will receive a bye, and the next team with the best overall conference record will also receive a bye. Going into the final week, those standings are as follows:
Miami (11-5)
Western Michigan (10-6)#
Akron (10-6)

Bowling Green (10-6)
Ohio (10-6)
Kent State (10-6)
Buffalo (10-6)
Toledo (9-7)

Ball State (8-8
Northern Illinois (7-10)*
Eastern Michigan (5-11)*
Central Michigan (3-14)*
Marshall (2-14)*

* can not host a first round home game
#holds current tiebreaker vs. BG "

so we basically control our own destiny as far as a first round home game is concerned. we win out, we get the home game at least. i don't know the tie-breakers if we beat western but lose to central (unlikely as it is to lose to them). it looks like nothing is clinched in either division.

if we can get that first round bye or home game, i really like our chances. we have beaten every team in the MAC except western and akron, with both being winnable games and we have a chance at redemption over western. the MAC may be one of the most exciting divisions in all of college basketball this year.

If we win out, we get the bye. Tied with WMU for first right now, if we win our two, the most they can win is one, and no one else can get to 12 wins. If we beat WMU but lose to CMU, we deserve to walk to Buffalo for the first round.

And play the game barefoot.

Outside.

On broken glass.

First things first. Beat the Broncos!!!!

you're right... i didn't look at the standings close enough. but if we lose to central, at home, with the tourney on the line, i don't know what i'll do.

Based on games remaining, here is my prediction for final MAC records.
1. Miami 13-5
2. Western 11-7
3. BG, Akron, Buffalo, Kent, Ohio all at 11-7
8. Toledo & Ball St at 10-8.

I think the first tiebreaker is record against teams you are tied with, regardless of number of games played. So against the other 11-7 teams (WMU is not included since they win the West), we have: BG 3-2, Akron 4-3, Buffalo 2-5, Kent 4-3, Ohio 4-4. That would give us the #3 seed and a bye. Akron and Kent are both 1-1 against Miami, and 0-1 against Western so it comes down to their record against us. Akron beat us and Kent lost to us so Akron get the #4 seed, Kent #5. Then Ohio #6 and Buffalo #7.

Toledo and Ball State tie-breaker goes down to record against Akron. Toledo wins that and hosts Ball State.

So, to summarize, here is my predicted seeding for the MAC tourney
1. Miami
2. Western
3. BGSU
4. Akron
5. Kent
6. Ohio
7. Buffalo
8. Toledo
9. Ball State
10.Northern
11.Eastern
12.Central
13.Marshall
