The thing is i think he could have a chance to play pro-ball...i seem him as a Larry Bird type...just a litle slower..put him on a team that plays a zone and let shot the ball and it might work...it would be really funny though to see him playing pro ball(NBA) with his oxygen tank on the sideline...

Don't get me wrong I like John alot but to compare him to LARRY BIRD is pretty much ridiculous. Sure, he has a chance to play pro-ball.......in eastern Europe. I don't see how under any circumstances he will play in the NBA. You have to realize that there are so many good players out there, that the best shooter on even a good MAC team really doesn't have NBA potential anymore.

I think he can find a spot on somebody's bench. He has an NBA quality outside shot ...actually that's an insult because today's NBA players don't shoot nearly as well as they did 25 years ago..he has a better than NBA quality shot and the rest of his game is decent enough that he could handle a few minutes a night without killing his team.

I defended Netter when this came up last year (and I still do-- he still has a shot), and I will defend Reimold.

Cases in point:
Matt Harpring (who had 28 today).
Wally Sczerbiak (?).
Pat Garrity.
Toni Kukoc.

And to a less successful extent:
Scott Padgett.

Reimold has three tools I think taht are necessary to play ni that league:
He's talented. He's confident in his talents. And he's not afraid to stick his body in anywhere to make a play, and believe it or not, he's got a prototypical NBA body for what he will do there.

Harpring is a great player because he told everyone that ever told him he was too slow and too white (pardon playing the race card) to play in the NBA to f themselves.

Reimold will do the same.

And like it or not Dakich haters, the coach knows his stuff and has produced NBAers...Another reason to believe in Reimold. When I wrote a story three summers ago about McLeod, Dakich prophecized it would be a terribly rough road for McLeod because of his size and transferring to the 1.

If he says Reimold is a pro, why not believe him?

And he'd be asked to guard the likes of Tracy McGrady, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant.

Reimold has a better shot than Kevin because he actually has a work ethic, but I said it last year and I'll say it again, You're on crack if you believe that either one of those two will ever play in the NBA.

The NBA takes athleticiism and heart. Reimold had heart, but is not athletic enough. The opposite can be said for Netter.

Former Purdue Forward Brian Cardinal is having some success in the NBA. He isn't athletic at all but he hustled his ass off in college diving for loose balls and doing the little things and he got a shot. If you're good enough someone will give you a chance.

You know what they say... "Life Goes On"... :?

I saw something with him in it the other day, old Purdue highlights... two Brian Cardinal references in one weekend. That's almost too much!

Yeah before going to BG I was a big Indiana fan and hated this guy. But he hustled. Gotta respect that.

I'm not saying Riemold is as good as Bird, i just think that he has similarities to him...like Bird, Riemold is not the greatest ballplayer to step on the court, but Riemold has great work ethic and he gives 110% even when there's nothing left to give...i see him go out everynight and leave everything he has on the court. The additude he displays is one that i think the NBA could use more of.

I was hearing your argument for a little while, but Bird had some serious talent. Probably beyond serious.

Work ethic will get you far, or at least magnify some of your abilities. I'll take coach Dakich for his word if he thinks JR has NBA potential. I never would have thought about it, but some of the names on this thread have shown that alot depends on getting your foot in the door and then doing something with your opportunity.

But where do you really think Bird would rank in todays game...it's much different than it was 10-15 years ago

true. but you didn't say "Bird wouldn't make it in today's game". I don't think anyone would think JR would step into the NBA and dominate the game, but there's always spots around for a role player. Not easy to come by, or very secure necessarily, but that's where a hot shooting touch and busting your balls on the floor get you noticed.

Hammb,

What about Harpring? Wally? Are these two, as starting small forwards (wally sometimes) in the NBA, any more athletic than Reimold? I'd say, emphatically, no.

So what happens? Harpring either a) gets help when they play the Rockets, or b) someone else guards them on the Jazz (Andrei Kirikelnko?).

What happens when the T-Wolves play the Cavs? My guess is that a) Wally gets help from KG in the middle or b) Sprewell guards him.

I find your logic flawed, if only because James and T-Mac are going to score, a lot, every night, no matter who guards them.

My point is that adjustments are made. Harpring is a starter and veteran because he can shoot, can play and plays well with his team. In my opinion, Reimold is a replica of Harpring.

I'm sorry guys....

But Reimold won't be playing in the NBA. He is a good shooter, but not great. He is a good athlete, but not great. He doesn't have a great handle. And he isn't a great physical specimen either.

Reimold is the man here at BG, and we'd be in trouble without him, but, realistically, he isn't NBA material.
