In the second half, Miami made but 6 field goals the entire half. Of these, five were three pointers and the only two they made was a breakaway dunk. So for the entire half, the Redskins did not make one "traditional" two point shot against our defense. Not one layup, jumper, put back, anything. That is incredible.

It really was. When they were penetrating and kicking for open threes they looked good (and we left a LOT of shooters wide open). However, when they tried to finish themselves our interior defense did a very good job on them.

I think the even more amazing stat was BG only had 7 turnovers for the game! We usually get that per every 10 trips down the floor!

Listening to OptionQB, you'd have thought John Floyd had twice that many turnovers himself!! Right Option?? hehehehhehehe.....

Watching the game I thought he did. I cannot believe that he was only credited with 2 TOs, and I sure as heck don't remember 10 assists.

Were they counting the assists he gave to the other team when he fell on his butt like a moron hoping to get a charging call? I don't know if I've EVER seen a player flop so much as John Floyd.

It's to the point where that's a fair comparison, and that means that he's doing it too much! Sure its great when you get the call, but he got the call yesterday more than he usually will, and it takes you completely out of the defensive set. Just get on your feet and actually DEFEND somebody. I realize that he really can't, but its easier to try from your feet than your butt!

I don't know...Mawel sure does fall down a lot.
I think Floyd was really trying to draw the charge on Sunday. I thought he stepped up his game a whole hell of a lot. He's only a sophomore. He will get better. Our young kids have a lot of heart and they play hard.

Some guys were sitting behind us at the game who were on an unofficial visit from a HS in Youngstown. The kids coach kept pointing out the things our guys were doing and asked him, "do you think you can play here. You gotta play hard. These guys play hard...they don't get an easy look."

This may sound crazy, but I think the poor shooting on that end had a lot to do with the new rim/backboard. Think back to our first half down there. I remember Josh hitting a 19'6" jumper and Steven Wright hit two jumpers, but other than those, we made all layups. It looked like to me that rim was really tight and certainly wasn't as kind as the Anderson Arena rims I'm used to seeing.

As for Floyd, he flopped quite a bit, but got a couple calls out of it. Come MAC tournament time, I don't see those being called though.

frdmgir7, thanks for that interesting post concerning the visitor and his coach's comments concerning what he would have to do to play at BG. Very enlightening.

This player was from Youngstown Ursuline per their jackets so all you searchers can figure out the young man who visited. He looked maybe...what 6' 6", frdmgir7?

Hey you guys think Floyd flops a lot now, you should have seen him in high school. He is always looking for cheap fouls like that. It is just how he plays. He still played a great game with 10 assists and only 2 turnovers and he also chipped in 6 points.

The guy on the visit looked like he was Almanson's size. I think he was only a sophomore...we'll have to keep an eye out!
